'Only doing the jobs Americans won't do'...

Does that include $8-11 dollar jobs at Circuit City, too? A job you actually have to know something about the product to sell, not merely knowing how to "work hard"?

I hope that happened to one of you liberal open-borders crap supporters. How long will it be when EVERY job in the USA is offered only at slave-labor wages?

I hope you stupid liberals wake up in time to realize that they're not just in the cropfields anymore - they could be taking your job "that you as an American don't want"

reply

I think you should be pissed off at the actual companies and corporations that are doing the hiring.

I hope you stupid conservatives wake up in time to realize that the same people who usually vote republican are the ones in charge of company policies and all they want is more business so they can get more money, so in the end, it's a vicious cycle....how can we make more money...hmm..let's hire people who will work for less money...wait a minute...all "these" people are taking over AMERICAN jobs....hmm i wonder how they got the jobs in the first place

Sorry, it is the truth. Most Americans think they are "too good" to take the type of job immigrants do. If that wasn't true why do you suppose you see immigrants in thos paticular fields? It isn't because employers won't hire whitey, it is because whitey won't apply. Whitey lives on off mommy and daddy while he goes to college for four years to be constantly drunk, high , get a few STD's and (if female) abortions, date rape a few chicks, drive in SUV's that are worth more than my life, party all weekend and then go home on the holidays and summer to get a pat on the head a few more thousand dollars from mommy ,daddy , grandpa and grandma because they are doing soooooo well and are soooo smart and soooo educated.

Then they graduate, get a job right away because daddy lines something up for them...and the cycle starts all over. That is what whitey does , while the immigrants are cleaning up after his mess, making his food, plowing his fields and being talked down to by him.

So yes, they take the stuff white Americans won't , because they are too busy hiding behind the " I AM IN COLLEGE" facade to avoid having to take lower paying, labor jobs while they are young and being forced to work their way to the top...instead it is given to them. Even if you are a white person who didn't go to college...you still get the better paying, upper level jobs that are hardly , if at all, physical.

White people have had nothing but grand oppritunity after another, that is what happens when you steal people's country, land, force your backwards religion onto them and then kill them if they get in the way. You pretty much take what you want, when you want and then pass that mentality onto your children who pass it on who pass it on...there is no breaking out of it. White people are lucky Mexicans will do their dirty work...who else is going to scrub their underwear clean at the dry cleaners?

Just because no one understands you dosen't mean you are profound.

@Tony_Plus
I have to agree with you on this. In many cases, the illegal immigrant is happy to take the job at the offered wage, even if it is lower than the minimum wage--many times, it is done by dodging certain work procedures.

While I don't agree with minimum wage laws or crazy bureaucratic regulations, the idea was that the jobs are most intended for the teenager who has zero work experience but does go through the certain work procedures.

This is neither an attack nor an encouragement to the illegal immigrant or teenager, it's just a fact.

Why else is the percentage of unemployment amongst teenagers so much higher than it used to be? It's not because immigrants are stealing their spots, it's that the means to higher someone lacking in experience is becoming too expensive on the business. This is economics 101.

Nicely put, Tony.

I've had this discussion with people many times. They often say, "But if businesses can get away with paying less, then they will and people won't have enough income for living."

I think their hearts are in the right place, but they're wrong. If businesses wanted to get away with paying less, then they would also pay administrators, stock clerks, couriers, etc. etc. the minimum wage--or even over that, but still much less. They often pay much more than the minimum because they want to hire good employees who want to work their willingly.

And yes, the point of a low waged position were not meant to be careers, just entry-level jobs for teens to earn experience. Eventually, they get promoted or go somewhere else with a good looking resume and aim for the better wage with more responsibilities attached.

By allowing low wages for teens, the business is able to grow which can often spring more jobs and/or branches.

Saying you want no minimum wage sounds evil, but it's concept that has worked well before and allowed everyone to benefit provided they took the responsibility to participate.

First, you can't "outsource" your land to another country so that's not even a valid argument.

Second, I'm not sure of the exact stats of how many illegals are doing which jobs but I have heard that they comprise 25% of migrant farm workers. So....who makes up the other 75%?

Third, while they may not intend on "taking over the world", many illegal Mexican immigrants have stated that they intend to "retake" the portions of the US that they believe, mistakenly, is still theirs.

Fourth, I don't think that homeless people should be compared to the illegals. It's not an apples to apples comparison. Besides, the claim that they are taking jobs that American's won't do implies that they are taking them from people who would otherwise be doing them. Not that they're taking them from those who would rather beg. For that matter, if a homeless person doesn't live in an agricultural area, they can't very well grab a picking bag.

Fifth, illegal aliens contribute very little to our economy. True, they pay sales tax on items they buy but they don't contribute to any of the social services that they use. They don't pay income tax. They send large portions of their income to their families rather than spend it here. And any area that has a significant population of illegals will tell you that they are a drain on their economy and a drain on their social programs. If that's not at least contributing to "ruining" our country I can't figure what would be.

Sixth, there should be no need for bilingual employees in most businesses because English should be the the "legal" language of our country.

Seventh, what many people seem to want to overlook is that they are ILLEGAL. Why would anyone be ok with this? They broke our laws to be here and they break them every day in which they are here. Period.

Finally, I would like to make an analogy. If you're ok with a person, any person of any color, gender, religion or race coming to this country and using our resources, being given health care, being fed and in general being taken care of, simply because they do some work, then I suggest that you post your home address. That way, anyone who wants to can come into your home when you're unaware of it, do some house cleaning and when you become aware of their presence...YOU become responsible for feeding them, clothing them and providing for their healthcare.

I sleep now

Big corporations want as many immigrants as they can get to bid down wages.

The Republicans are all for it, because big business rules them.

The Democrats cant say no to any dark skinned person anywhere.

Amen Zombie Carnage. Welcome to America, 2007.

Wow, Zombie_Carnage, that is quite a story, we need more people like you to take a stand.

If you can’t get a job because an illegal will work for less than you, just offer to work for less than them. We have a free market economy in this country, and even though it’s highly regulated, there are a lot of holes. Honestly, competition, that’s the name of the game. And *beep* revolutions, barely any of them have been good.

Sure I'd be angry, but I wouldn't sit around and cry about it, I'd get right back in the job market.

Gee, didn't you hear him, you need to get back on the work force!!!!

This sort of thing makes me so angry steam shoots out of my ears. We have a genuine bureaucrat on the board.

reply

Welfare, food stamps, cut coupons, shop at different stores, work longer, there’s a lot of things you can do. Do you ever wonder how those illegals support their families of 5,6,7+ on low wages?

FDR didn't bring in a bunch of people to be poor, he decided to fix the ones we already had.

reply

By using welfare and public works, he set up a system for people to live off the government.

During the depression, those were special circumstances.

reply

So are you saying we should just end welfare, and aid to the poor, just because they were started during ‘special circumstances’?

Its a mad house, this modern life.

reply

Not end it, but I don't think we should just give money away instead of actually fixing the employment problem. Some people need welfare, but I think bringing in a bunch of new workers when people are still willing to work just to save a little money for the corporate fat cats is dumb. And the tax payers have to pay for the out of work citizens. We also get to add to the couple of trillions of dollars that government owes. This whole thing stinks of government mismanagement.

reply

So far, I've never had to compete with an illegal alien for a job and I seriously doubt that I ever will. America was built on immigrants. They work hard and take care of their families. I'm more concerned about the legal terrorists that live her and the dishonest "rich" people who continue to ask us for bailouts.

reply

I think the argument of "They're Stealing Our Jobs!" is a pretty lame one. Why? Because that's not the source of the problem. I don't even think illegal crossing is the source of the problem...I think the problem is that almost 3/4 of illegal immirgrants are on welfare programs and more than half aren't paying their income taxes.

The ideal thing to do is to enter a country legally. It's respectful, it's smart and it doesn't compromise the reputation of all immigrants (including legal ones).

I understand why they come here. I've talked to many of them (from El Salvador and Ecuador mostly--not a big Mexican population in DC) and they do it because their own countries' governments are far more corrupt than ours. Many of them never even intend to stick around, but often do anyway.

The problem isn't a matter of space, nor is it a matter of "they're taking our jobs" but it's a matter of wastefulness of the public treasury. If government stopped ALL welfare programs (to everyone--not just illegal immigrants) and cut ALL the ridiculous spending, then we could open the boarders more, there would be rapid job growth and we wouldn't have such a big problem.

I think it's totally fair to want immigrants to be fair by not making their first decision when coming here to be an illegal one, but we should at least look at the root of the problem rather than only pointing the finger at the branches.
