Saving the Damsel In Distress

So Wynn was so infatuated with Rains that he entered the cube to help her out. Even if I ignore the ridiculous set up of having to peons monitor the entire cube, why have a victor now? Then to make the escapee the damsel in distress-- I'm tired of seeing that in movies. That's kinda why I liked the first one because Kazan was the only one who got out (if we believe he in fact got out).
