question about wynn at end of movie

so he was supposed to be the mentally handicapped idiot savant in the first movie? if so why didn't they make him look like him more and why did they have him speak like rain man. or maybe was the savant in the first movie just another tech go tried to get free and then got put back in the cube.

I was hoping they did that with him. But the character who was an idiot savant in the first Cube movie name was Kazan. The main character here is Wynn and it was stitched on his shirt. So no.

It would have tied the movie to the first one better if they made him into Kazan.

Me fail English? But, that's unpossible.

I just posted a comment on another thread that's relevant here.

At the end, the Cane Dude says something like "You've been sentenced to two more lifetimes".

Could set up a (dare I say it?) Cube 0.5... I mean, the whole payoff could have been Wynn getting into the cube, intentionally at first, then unintentionally later, setting up a bridge movie between Cube Zero and Cube, where he is renamed Kazan. I mean, because naming him Kazan in Cube Zero would pretty much tell you the ending.

I think what would have been a better play would have been to always have Wynn's name obscured and never have Dodd call him by name. Just... kid or junior or something like that. Sort of like the Bride's name payoff in Kill Bill http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0378194/combined.

So the last scene would have played out with the close up of his twitchy hand, then pan out to the head bumping "blue room" dialog with him turning to reveal "Kazan" on his shirt. Fade to black.

Whadda ya think?

That would have been better and they should have performed plastic surgery to make him look like Kazan at the end as well.

Nice theory but a little too Hollywood in making him the same character.

The director in the commentary says that they're not the same character. Showing Wynn in the end as a savant is an indication that Kazan was also at some point an "employee" of the cube. He knew too much, was given an effective "downgrade" then condemned to the cube to let him walk it.

Dodd could have even just called him by his first name since we don't know Kazan's first name.
