Cube 2 vs Cube 3

I simply want to know which sequel is the better one. At the moment, they are both rated 5.6, but it seems that there are a lot more people that dislike #2 and claim to prefer #3.

Any thoughts?

Based on what I've read, I'm under the impression that #3 relates better as a follow-up, whereas the second film is a sort of spin off. Don't get me wrong though, i havent seen either sequel. If this is true though, is it possible to watch 1 and 3 without 2?

(just in case this has already been the topic for a thread, im sorry but i just don't feel like reading through all of the pages of topics)

Most recently viewed movies:
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: 8/10
The Wicker Man (1973): 9/10
Apacylypto: 10/10
The Descent: 9/10
Black Christmas (1971): 7/10

Cube Zero is better becuase its more of a continuation in story as well as feel and atmosphere. The second moive, Hyper cube is too slick and science fictiiony with the bright lights and lasers. The grit and real feel is lost.

Personally I preferred the 2nd sequel "hypercube". Main reasoning here is that the 2nd is going somewhere... as in there are plot points and the "cube" saga seems to start to take direction (yep, vague direction I know).

To me the 3rd movie was almost a copy of the first, and seemed to a step backwards in story line from the 2nd.

I loved the origional Cube movie...however i didnt like the second at all..it wasnt what i was expecting as i thought it was going to be in the same Cube...The whole super advanced look didnt suit Cube after the first movie..plus it seemed disjointed to me..however, i liked the 3rd movie (zero).. thought it was spot on in line with the origional plus it was good to see the other side of the coin with the controllers.

*yes, you can watch Cube and Cube Zero without watching Hypercube because the second movie bares no realation unlike the other two

Neither compares to the original Cube. Cube Zero is terrible. Just terrible. This is a total hack job.

Cube Zero is an uninventive concept of what the story behind the cube might be. That is not the purpose of what a prequel to such a movie should be. A prequel traditionally connects storylines (as the way sequels continue them). Unfortunately the original Cube had no storylines to really connect, except for perhaps Kazan.

But it seems his storyline ISN'T CONNECTED. I don't care what anyone says. Wynn is not Kazan and nothing about that is connected. It is a half-assed, half-baked, lazy, dumb, and ridiculous way of trying to explain something that doesn't require explanation. Kazan was autistic (or something close to it).

I hated this movie. I hated the way it dealt with everything close to the concept of the Cube, from the characters inside, to the dreadful play between Wynn and Dodd outside of it. The mystique of the original Cube is what makes it great. So it turns out there are two bone-heads watching from some security room "upstairs"? That's really clever. REALLY creative stuff. I wonder how Ernie came up with such an "out there" idea. People watching us? From ABOVE?? Oh I'll just write an 90 script about two guys having expositional conversations about nothing in a cheap looking set that is supposed to be a futuristic security monitoring facility. That's excellent.

Maybe I can get my brain wiped by the totalitarian government too so that I won't have to remember the 97 minutes I wasted looking at this complete piece of garbage. Vincento Natali's great work on "Cube" has been essentially ruined for me. The mystique, the grandeur, and the aura of the cube that made me interested in this "series" is not just abandoned in this horrible film. It is completely obliterated.

my vote goes to Cube 3 ( Cube zero) i own all the cube movies, and cube 2 was a little dissapointing to me......because it lacked the gore, horror and cool traps that the first one had..and was really just a si-fi film as apposed being a horror/sci- fi like the first movie....and I found all the chararcter in cube to be annoying.....cube 2 isnt a totally waste...I just didnt think it was as good as 1 or 3......cube zero is alot more like the first one....it has the gore, tenson and the cool traps like the first one has ~

Quite honestly I'd skip 2 & 3, neither is very good. The third one is more watchable but just by going over to the thread on "What if they pressed Yes" you'll see that the film causes more questions than it answers. And no, they aren't good questions, just meant to confound you rather than to make the movie experience more enjoyable or give you a reason for it all.

Hypercube and Cube Zero are trying to make some cash, it's not done by the same person who did the original Cube - they lack any of that vision.

I only liked the first Cube film. The other two lacked the exciting elements from the first film.

part 2 is worth a watch, but part 3 (cube zero) far surpasses it IMO. of course, neither cube 2 or cube 3 are as good as the first cube film. I'd say start by watching part 1, then part 3 (as it's a "prequel")...and finish with part 2 (since it really doesn't add anything to the series).

Well, I haven't seen the first, but I have seen Cube Zero and Cube 2. To me, Cube Zero was definitely a lot better. Cube 2 was too futuristic.. the Cube was totally different which kind of killed it and the plot just wasn't as good or together as the other one. Plus, while I'm not into gore like the Saw movies or what not, idk theres something about these movies that is interesting.. and Cube 2 didn't really have any traps. Also, the characters in the 2nd one were annoying.

Cube 3 (that is, Cube Zero), is much better than Cube Poo. I mean, Cube 2.

Cube 2 is painful to watch, literally. Pathetic plot, acting.. set design.. it's just bloody white. The best part of Cube 2 is the intro credits, with the blueprint thing. Beyond that, waste of time.

Cube 3 is much darker, and makes a little sense, at least. The acting is a little better..
