How on earth is this movie better than Hypercube?

Lemme explain what I mean. When I wrote a review for this movie, it was downvoted, even though this one has gotten negative reviews. Why? Also, it for some reason has a higher rating than Hypercube.
Aside from Jax, I pretty much hated this movie. The actor playing Dodd was *beep* horrible and Zachary Quinn felt like wasted talent. The scenes trying to copy the first Cube movie right to the spot were bad but the scenes in the little room with the guys playing chess or whatever, sucked even more. And the ending, oh my GOD...!

Hypercube sets out to be nothing more than another Cube movie and is barely related to the first one. Therefore, it's not as big a offender for me. Sure it has some similarities, but the style of the movie is completely different. The characters are not as good and the humor is weaker, but at least it has more charm than Cube Zero. Whoever played the senile old lady... you rock. She was hilarious.

So, in short, the first one was a masterpiece, the second one a decent shut-off-brain-flick and the third one... *beep*

The second felt too different to even be the same movie series and is the worst of the bunch I think. They don't really try to figure out how to escape, there's no fun puzzle aspect to it, the traps aren't as interesting, the characters are much more annoying, the rooms themselves look even cheaper somehow, the blind woman was a terrible actress/plot twist, and the 'government did it' ending is lazy and weak. Cube zero isn't much better I agree, but it had the distinction of NOT coming directly after the first and ruining everything.

This already had a stinker sequel in front of it, so nobody was expecting anything basically. This one is almost like damage control trying to connect an amazing first movie to a mediocre sequel that introduced ideas that brought the series backwards if anything...
