I'm not the one who made the original point, I just agreed with it.
But I would imagine the person is speaking to the perception of "we have to many of those people coming over here. They need to stay in their country." Meanwhile, each of the people coming here originally came from somewhere else.
No one who I ever heard make that type of statement ever gave a damn whether the people were here legally or not.
They just minded them being here.

It's about ownership. When Africans were owned the "N word" was an insulting term. Nowadays some of the African descended community clings to the term like a geek who's assumed the nom de guerre "Four Eyes". Now they own it and anybody else who uses the term is a racist. It's all bull. If we're still arguing over words we still have a long way to go. If we're still clinging to the words we aren't helping.

It is about ownership. I would liken it to a neighbor who had a bad dog who frightened and tormented you for years. Then one day the dog bit you. Instead of having the dog put to sleep and gone forever, you tell the dog's owner that the dog now belongs to you. You will love and care for him because there is a change of ownership. Now the neighbor who use to be the dog's owner misses his ex-pet and one day comes to rub his head. He is caught by the new owner. The new owner expresses inordinate rage. It seems out of place, but the memories which are brought back when the dog use to torment his new owner is fast forwarded into conscience.
I'm sure some would see my rational as warped. However, when I was a child I saw what I described between two neighbors in my community. Now the dog and both neighbors are deceased. Yet, the memory lingers on.
What does all this talk about race have to do with the basic fact that THIS MOVIE SUCKS ASS?? Any hints of racism aside, the Cedric speech was too long, too self-righteous, and quite hollow of meaning considering the character's a cold-blooded murderer.

The movie was bad. Yet, it was a dark comedy depicting the ironies of murderers and low-lives in a pop culture that is supported by everyday people without their knowledge. However, Cedric's speech was one of the highlights in the entire motion picture. It was well thought out and presented a high degree of truth. Your comments suggest that you're lacking in cultural competence. You appear to be a candidate for some multiculturalism training.
