Gyaah.

Pointless topic, yes, but...

I do hope there'll be more. o.o;;

It's an awesome series. I won't say anything, other than that it's awesome and I got a couple of friends into it. x3

Anyone who's seen it: Which episode did you like?

...mind you, it sounds a lot better in Japanese than in English. Muraki sounds like a constipated Britishman, no offense. x.o;;

This show is so homo! What is the target audience for this??

reply

It's a shojo anime/manga series, so girls are the target audience.

reply

its a cool show. the anime doesnt get to deep in the whole guy x guy thing it kinda leaves it to the imagination so guys can like it too. there's more to it than the yaoi. it has a good plot and charaters are sweet. the manga now that doesnt leave it to your imagination. so guys tend to go for the anime more. the manga is better. the charater relationships and personalities are more developed and deeper. the story is deeper and more funny and sad side stories. it explains the relationships between each characters and comepared to the manga the anime doesnt even compare to it. but non the less yami no matsuie is a sweet show. its stupid that guys brush it off because its yaoi. but hell its a good show and has alot more going for than guy x guy. but it is targeted for the female audience it still shouldnt matter.

I really liked this show and I love the manga.

And I like the dub version too because the voices aren't really that bad IMO. =P

I wish people would post here more though.

I hope they make more too, its the best anime ive ever seen.

reply

Agreed here.

I personally like the Tsuzuki/Muraki. Even though Muraki is a sick sadistic bastard...lol...I still luv him. (I luv Tsuzuki more, though.)

Still, I think that the English voices were chosen poorly. (Ones in particular: Hisoka and Muraki) I like the Japanese voices more. It suits them much better.

Btw.....

Does anyone else think that this show has the most AWESOME intro song?!?!? OMG, it's addicting. *hums it to herself*

What's the use of originality if you can't crank it out?

i really like the ending song the best

I love the show as well, anyone who doesnt like it shouldnt post here....

My birthdays the same as Tsuzuki

reply

Why are people saying this hsow is bad on a forum? Why are you here if you think the show is "disgusting"? How immature...

reply

Bah, because they didn't like it, of course, and didn't like the homoerotic elements more so most likely. How immature of you not to have guessed...

It's an average anime with cute characters, easy storyline, shonen-ai hints (though this is, thanks to the authors, not a yaoi, so that some other people other than ugly girls could enjoy it thoroughly), nothing too deep, guys are so girly you'd wonder if they have a male member even... But that is usual for girly anime (I mean can something beat Utena?)... All in all a nice try, but they should've worked on the plot some more (could've just taken it from manga). Go-go, Dr. Muraki, our "constipaded Britishman" of all times ;)

P.S. I actually watch yaoi and shonen-ai, if it is well-made, but I find remarks in review and post of a "not for close-minded" quite infantile - people should be open minded and appreciate the diversity of society, which means not spitting on people, who don't like homosexual relationships - that's their right, just like your right to like them - doesn't make either of you more open or close-minded really, just different points of view... So no need to fight in a sandbox...

reply

Oh really?
Well the anime stopped at Volume 8. But i think there are 10 volumes of manga, a character book, a sketchbook, two drama cds, & all those merchandise things.

Only cause Yami no Matsuei is awesome
xD

I love the dub-- I have always loved Dan Green and Liam O'Brien, I think their voices are so sexy.

The manga is big on gore. Some stuff surprised me.

The only thing I don't like is the shonen-ai hints.

The show and comic kept hinting at Hisoka x Tsuzuki, but nothing ever happened. It was frustration which led to disappointment.

Why do they try to lure in non-yaoi fans by being coy? Gimme a break. I think they should either go all the way and wave that rainbow freak flag, or be a buddy-buddy/boy-meets-girl show the straights can like. Stop trying to have it both ways, shonen-ai shows!

well....the dub irritated me ^^; while I was glad Hisoka actually sounded like a boy he was way too old to pass as a 16 year old kid ^^; Tsuzuki's VA wasn't that bad but he's no Miki Shin'ichirou. Muraki's voice actor >>;; Well...I winced when I heard his first line. Another poster on this message board said that you `do' eventually get used to it...and you do, it's just such a shock if you're used to Hayami Shou's lovely deep voice ^^;;; It just irked me that the casters seemed to go for a stereotypical `evil gay man' voice for him...Muraki is so much more complicated than that. (and even the series creator said that Muraki isn't exclusively gay...he likes both boys and girls, if he's interested in someone, he doesn't care what gender they are, in other words...he's a dirty little slut!" ^.~ (and before anyone pounces on me...Muraki's my favorite Yami character, and that quote came from the manga author directly lol she can call her characters whatever she wants I guess lol )

As to the yaoi/shounen-ai factor....I admit it's not my favorite genre and doesn't really do anything for me (and it has nothing to do with my own orientation, which is *not* hetero ^^;; ), I like the characters and story enough to have Yami as one of my top manga/anime likes. I do like how it's vague and really open to interpretation. If you like shounen-ai you can read into it what you want and see the Tsuzuki X Hisoka Muraki X Tsuzuki...(any combination thereof ) relationships...if you don't go for it...you can see the relationship between Tsuzuki and Hisoka as that of just close friends/brothers...ect...it's all up to what the viewer wants to see ^_^ and by having them not kissing....it is left open to interpretation. For hard-core yaoi fans...I love how they ignore any hint that one of their so-called 100% gay characters shows attraction or has a relationship with a female character >>: Muraki for instance is quite obviously bi...as he has a female fiance in the manga that he apparently cares about (tidbits from the manga imply that he was upset when she had to cancel a theater date with him and that Oriya is jealous of her in some respects), Tsuzuki was falling in love with a woman he was sent to collect in volume 1 of the manga, also implying that he `is' attracted to women too, and Hisoka `did' fall for Tsubaki in the king of swords arc (this is even more apparent in the manga than in the anime...in which he is quite obviously torn up and jealous that she's in love with Muraki...and almost tells her he loves her..but she stops him..saying she doesn't deserve to hear what he's about to tell her...and that he should wait for someone who deserves him. *sniffs*

I cry when I hear the English dub. Hisoka reminded me of some kind of smarmy 40's sidekick and Muraki, well, I can't even begin to describe what tourture listening to that is. I LOOOOOOVED the part in the Queen Camilla arc where Japanese dub Tsuzuki says in English, "Ah have no monay!"

And to answer someone elses question about why they don't just go all the way gay or all the way straight, because that's not what this is! It's not a yaoi series, it's a bishonen series, so it's supposed to appeal to anyone who likes pretty, pretty boys. I will admit, I prefer yaoi, but there's a lot to be said for a good storyline too.

reply

oh yeah i loved that part when hes all please speak japanese...i have no monay....^ ^
