I heard about it through a preview trailer on another DVD I have. Now I have the whole series and I LOVE IT. ^-^
(Regarding the demon from the Devil's Song archive. Tsuzuki just blew away the demon that was after Minase in episode 5)

I'm not entirely sure how I got into it. I remember reading a little bit about it and decided to buy it. I think that was one of the best decisions I've made. I discovered my all time favorite character (Hisoka) when I watched the dvd.

My Japanese friend casually mentioned it to me as being her all-time favourite anime, so I looked it up and found the DVD box set.
Unfortunately, it was only available on import, but I changed my computer DVD region and haven't changed it back since - I'm amazed that I haven't worn off the episodes from watching them so much!

I think it was an AMV in my case, too. I'd seen flashes of it for years in compilations, so I think I eventually asked somebody who they were. Since then, I've seen the entire subbed series, read and watched more fan-created things than I can rememeber, currently working through the dub (it's so hard to find these days!), and aching to get my hands on the manga. ^_^() Feh, I hate being broke.
