Stan picks a big white cop. Imagine that, yawn…

A big pushy intimidating cop. What is this 1950? This guy wasn’t any better than any of the other people. I feel totally robbed. Stan Lee will never get another penny from me. Argh... How frustrating!

So you preferred the Dragonball Z knock off or the Hazel wannabe?

reply

Atleast it would have been thinking out of the box. Speaking of boxes that old fart Stan is seriously ready for one.

Defusor was one of my 2 picks to win along with hyperstrike.

I think you are being a bit one dimensional with your sentiments.
Defusor's impromptu acceptance speech was admirable and I think he
really has the qualities that will make a decent hero.

I was personally pulling for Hyperstrike but you have to give the
Defusor his due

reply

What Due? He's a big clutsy, pushy, ape-like, con man. Don't tell me fell for those non-existant tears.

reply

Don't you know the kind of people cops like him have to deal with every day on the job also for a cop every day they go to work not sure if the'll return home that night. In my book DEFUSER was a HERO long before he ever though about trying to become a super hero, but in many ways he represents every cop who put their ass on the line every day for the rest of us.So in every way that counts their all super heros,DEFUSER is now able to show it to everyone...

reply

In your book, LOL. Heroes don't get paid, and if they do, it's not heroic . It's just a job.
Here is the top 5 most dangerous jobs:
1. Timber cutters
2. Airplane pilots
3. Construction laborers
4. Truck drivers
5. Farm occupations
So now take your book and read...idiot.

"Damn. Those guys sure put their lives on the line to save people's life."

Well as a matter o' fact...yes they do. Plus they don't whine about it as much as some people. Now a farm worker is under paid.

"Stan picks a big white cop. Imagine that, yawn…"

As opposed to the Video Game powered supergeek who just happends to be white from last year? If stan was looking for old skool sterotypes he would have picked Major Victory last year.

reply

I think the whole speech about how he wanted to help his sister when he was younger did it. Who knows if any of that was true, though. He could have been told to say that. Hyperstrike could have just as easily won. Hygena really didn't belong in the final hour, but they probably just kept her around so they had a woman there, much like Fat Ass from last year. Hygena did more than Fat Ass ever did, though.

reply

I think Stan picked the right guy. The Defuser consistently showed strong leadership, courage, and loyalty. He's always done well in the challenges, and most importantly, he learns from his mistakes (not as bossy as he was, for example). Hyperstrike certainly could have won, too, but never seemed as strong as Defuser.

reply

I'm glad Defuser won, personally I'd been pulling for Parthenon but Defuser was my second choice. Learning from what happened to Feedback, I think he's getting an awfully lame reward though. What generic sci-fi cheeseball is he going to get thirty seconds of screentime in?

reply

These are all hard workers but none of the are heros, everyday like a cop has to be.

reply

You kidding? Timber cutters is Number 1? What book are you reading? Where are your soldiers in the armed forces? Circus performers like acrobats and animal trainers? Policemen and policewomen? Firefighters? The only one on your list I agree with is construction workers, but it's just as dangerous being a passenger or flight attendant on an airplane as it is being a pilot. Truck drivers? They're trained and know how to drive those things, by your logic, you can argue that cab drivers belong on your list, or pizza delivery boys and girls.

reply

I think The Defuser is a fine choice. Last season, I thought the standout was Major Victory, and still consider him the uncrowned champion.

reply

Who else was Stan gonna pick

you had Parthenon basically a gay greek demi-god

Whip-snap who felt she needed to cry every two seconds

Hygena-no comment neccesary but was only kept on the show to have a girl there
Basura-She was a good one but two bad she was terrible at every mission

Mr Mitzvah-NO offense but a charachter yeling Mussaltaf on a mission to save the children is flat out lame

The weird girl with the braids-no just no

Now Hyperstrike was a good one however he seems more like a sidekick to me than a hero

The only one out of the whole group that had leadership qualities a sweet costume and a sweet name was The Defuser he won by his name alone

The list of hazardous jobs was taken from employment statistics. I stand by what I said about “if you getting a pay check for a job, you ain’t no Hero.” A Hero has nothing to gain, but everything to loose, and still helps. Anyway it’s funny to see how stupid people believe in cliché’s. DeSnoozer is lame and I hope he chokes on a doughnut…

Defuser deserved to win. I don't care what some statistic says. I'm in a statistics class, so I am well aware of how some people use things like Simpson's Paradox in order to mislead people. The statistic probably screwed around with percentages like they did with the conflict regarding race and the death sentence. A larger total number of white defendants got the death sentence but a larger percentage of black defendants got the death sentence. My point being, I can't imagine anyone thinking all those occupations are more dangerous than being in the armed forces or police or fire departments. I can't imagine a truck driver or farmer being in more danger than a cop or firefighter.

reply

Farming accidents are very common here in the south and just awhile back, a truck driver parked on the side of the rode to rest for a bit and got rammed in the back by a speeding car. Police officers have weapons to defend themselves and firemen have protective gear. What does farmer Joe have when his tracker goes nuts?

Spike: I wasn't lurking, I was standin' about. It's a totally different vibe.

reply

I'll admit I underestimated farmers, but that's the danger when you don't protect yourself. There should be more protective stuff for farmers because overalls and a straw hat won't protect them from injuries.

I went to the website, the top chart shows those jobs as a percentage per 100,000 people. .1% of all timbercutters die, but you will notice that the biggest numbers of "on-the-job killers" in 2002 came from "Assaults/Violence," "Highway Collisions," "Struck by Falling/Flying Objects," and "Struck by Vehicle" which are all accidents that most often occur towards cops, and the falling/flying objects are common to firefighters as well (but also to construction laborers which I haven't argued against yet).

Statistics aren't always clear-cut evidence. As you can see, most of the "on-the-job killers" are things that can happen and have happened to cops, and only a few of them can happen with say a timbercutter or farmer.

I stand by what I said about “if you getting a pay check for a job, you ain’t no Hero.”

So you're saying that a soldier who dives on a grenade to save his squad or walks through a hail of gunfire to save his wounded buddy isn't a hero, just because he's receiving a paycheck.
Or in a case where his training tells him to stay out of a particular situation, a firefighter ignores his years of training and re-enters a building to save someone. He too is only doing this to receive compensation.

Guns don't kill people. Its those pesky bullets making holes that a lot of blood leaks out of.

A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life: soldiers and nurses who were heroes in an unpopular war. - that is a definition from dictionary.com that is accompanied with an example sentence also from dictionary.com.

you say that it's stupid how people believe in cliche's when you yourself just used a Cliche to describe a hero: "a hero has nothing to gain but everything to lose." thats probably the biggest cliche involving heroes.

As for your list, if all those guys do their job right there are virtually no problems within that job. A Cop, and a soldier can take all the proper precautions and still get shot cause he's dealing with a variable something that thinks for themselves. Though ill admit timber cutters also deal with a variable b.c you can never accurately judge where a tree will fall, but all the others can control such accidents by taking the proper precautions (that runaway tractor situation is one that can be prevented by making sure the tractor is running properly. A Fireman's job is to run into a burning building and carry incapacitated people or lead people ooustide while the fire is being put out using hoses that weigh a lot, whilst wearing heavy equipment, and most if not all building are falling apart during the time in which the firemen are inside which can cause floors collapsing, and destroy staircases basically trapping the people inside. That is a dangerous job and one much more dangerous than the ones you listed

For Firemen, Soldiers, and Police they can follow all the rules and still wind up not coming home, while the others on that list can wake up and go to work knowing that as long as the rules are followed they will come back. And where the hell is Coal mining on that list, my guess is that they have a lot more at risk when they go several miles below the surface into an area filled with material harmful to health and not to mention heavy, a lot can go wrong with that.

Soldiers that protect our freedom our heroes in my eyes and most other people's here. no matter what your opinioin on the war if you dont feel that the men who put their life on the line are heroes then you have a huge mis-conception of the word hero.

i wanted hyperstrike to win but thats because he fit a different type of hero archetype, one similar that of spider-man, iceman, deadpool, the flash and other such heroes who use comic relief to lighten the situations while also playing a role in defeating the problem at hand i prefer this over the super-man or Captain American archetype (i love CA but if i were to choose between a spider-man subscription and CA id choose Spidey) (though the whole DBZ power-up thing was dumb i never liked the show, and he looked awkard doing it cause he had the body of a gymnist as opposed to a medium sized super-hero)
