Rosemary + Thyme - TV Movie in 2011?

I remember reading a couple of months ago on here and Wikipedia that there was going to be a movie in late 2010, early 2011. Unfortuntely, I cannot find that information anymore. Was it cancelled?

reply

I never read that but, it would be great if a movie was made. Rosemary and Thyme was always one of my favourite TV dramas - a great pity it was axed.

I live in the states (Washington) and I bought the Complete Collection set. I've seen every episode at least 3 times. It really is my go to comfort show and I miss it :(

I think many of us miss this brilliant show. I loved watching every new episode each week, it really was a comfort show. Bring it back!

I'm a latecomer to this show..never really saw it first time around, but I'm really enjoying the re-runs on ITV3(UK). You can pick so many holes in the plots..but that's part of the fun!
As the previous posters said,it's a real comfort show, great for curling up with.
I love the way the police tell R&T all about their investigations and keep them informed..as if!
It would be great to have even a one off new special made.

My wife and I are new to the show as well. Just found all the DVD's, while browsing in our local library. We're going through them now. A great series. Lots of fun to watch.

No prizes for guessing that I LOVE this show. I've watched each episode tons of times. It is my comfort and escapist series also, I love to curl up watching it when I feel down. The flowers, gardens, countryside, bright colours are beautiful to watch, artfully done and full attention to detail. Kudos to them for attempting something different from the normal run of the mill cop/hospital/reality shows. Too bad they axed it - fools. Nevertheless the DVDs will remain an all time classic to be enjoyed for many years. I'm sure a one-off special would be a complete success and welcomed by all of us who miss the show!

Well said rosemaryandthyme, it's one of my all time favourite TV shows too!
Felicity and Pam bring such a sense of naturalness to the parts, they are a joy to watch..so believable even when the plots are not!
Thank God for the DVDs..I'm like you, I pop one on when I need a bit of "me time".
Have you got a favourite episode?

reply

It's hard to pick one favourite episode but it would be have to be Language of Flowers, followed by both the Paris and Italy episodes and Orpheous in the Undergrowth. The first two series are my favourites and not so much the third series - it didn't have that quaint cottage feel as the first two. Did you find this as well or is it just me?
Have you found anything else that has come close since to R&T? It is in a league of its own. Thank goodness midsomer murders is still going strong.

reply

I think you're right about the first two series being the best..although I do like In A Monastery Garden and Raquet Espanol from series three.
Orpheus In The Undergrowth is a favourite, and They Understand Me In Paris too..I love Rosemary's "French" accent when talking to the housekeeper..hilarious!
Well, nothing is quite like R&T,but I also like Midsomer Murders, and Marple.

I have only just recently discovered this addicting show on Netflicks. I love it. I wish there had been more episodes made. It's a gem.

I know I love this series as well. I've got all the DVD's and they are my comfort DVD's, pure delightful escapism (even if there are murders, but I mean the scenery, locations and watching mature woman in leading roles). There is nothing..nothing.. that compares to this series. So beautiful to watch. I'm just over all the " ugly, gritty realistic" series around now, just too many of them. Why can't there be a place for something light-hearted like this? We can only hope they do another one-off one day, but I believe the producer Brian Eastman is busy with other projects.

Ferris (Laura) is appearing as character in BBC series starting in US PBS this Sunday nite. Call the Midwife. NY Times gave 2 strong reviews of the show this weekend mentioning her.
Didn't realize she was born in Germany. When first watched show something about her seemed more distant than even a usual Brit housewife splitting from long time husband. I put it down to her occupation but subconsciously didn't buy into her role. Still took to series right off. Miss it.
