Superb Casting

It seems that these British productions succeed partly due to good casting. The casting of this mini-series appears perfect to me. It's just superb with major and minor actors very well cast indeed.

I liked the Dolly storyline, probably because it was cast so well.

Yes, I liked the Dolly story line as well. Very sweet and tender. I am glad her aunt relented.

reply

yes, agreed, even the minor players were perfect.

Don't think that the Brits always get it right. I watched the Joshi May verison of The Other Bolyen Girl (which, granted, is a fairly stupid book/film) and the casting was not good.

I agree. Particularly I had to love Mr. Gibson, the parson. He was exquisitiely well-cast. He did a superb job. Hated him to begin with, then realized his story was mostly for comic relief. Too funny!

David Tennant is such great eye-candy, even when he's playing a total weasel.

Oh my word, he was nearly my favorite thing about the movie ... I think the kisses beat him out. Definitely one of my new favorites.
