LOVED this movie

I have to say, I absolutely loved this movie, and now have to buy it and keep in my 'watch often' category. The story line, themes, relationships, casting ... all was thoroughly enjoyable. The common theme of control in English society and how people handled it and stood up to it was absolutely delightful. I love all the relationships, and have to say that while the Parson and the French girls definitely annoyed me in the beginning part of the movie, they quickly became comic relief. I highly recommend it!

I loved it too! Must say, my least favorite storyline was between the lead characters though. All other subplots were what made the story for me. After a bit of research it seems the author shared that sentiment.

You almost quoted Anthony Trollope, the original author, words exactly. When Trollope critiqued himself, he didn't think people would like the main character, Louis Trevelyan.
