Rating System Flawed?

I was having a look at the actual voting figures for this film and noticed that over 35% voted it in at 10, the highest possible score, while the majority of the remaining votes were all above 7, even with 10% voting under 5 the score should be way above 5.9.

I compared it to other films and the average for films where 30% and over vote 10 and 35% vote at around 7 usually gives out a 7.8.

The 'median' is actually 8 and the 'arithmetic' figure is 7.9 yet imdb score it at 5.9 using their 'weighted average' which suggests that they think that people who voted 10 are 'stuffing' the title and may be either connected to the film or 'fans'.

That's plain ridiculous, i could understand it perhaps for some hollywood rubbish but to apply these 'calculations' to this film seems suspect.

simple... multiply the rating, by the number who have rated so... add up the results, then divide by the total number of people who rated so.
It works.
Alas, there is no point in getting upset coz other people rate differently.
For me, this is a hard one to rate, so I haven't ... yet.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .
...it's a whole lot harder to shine.... than undermine.
