Anyone else hate this show?

"Pardon the Interruption" is just the most entertaining, watchable show on ESPN, or anywhere else. But, as much as I love that show, I hate "Around the Horn". It just seems contrived, forced and uninteresting. I love Tony and Mike on PTI, but jsut about everyone on ATH sucks, especially that Woody Paige idiot. I can't believe he gets paid to offer an opinion. And what's up with his hair??

This show stinks.

Whenever I turn it to ESPN for PTI and catch even a second of this dreadful program it simply ruins my day.

On another note... PTI has JTS b/c of too much Stat Boy.

i love this show, never miss it

ditto ajKelvin

I hate PTI. Can't stand even looking at either of those two. On the other hand, ATO is awesome. Sometimes sports gets too wrapped up in itself and humor and life are absent. ATO brings that back. I crack up all of the time. I really don't care for any of the other shows on ESPN. I HATE Jim Rome. I can't believe he constantly gets shows on tv. His radio program has nothing but constand dead air. Quite Frankly is not bad. But some of the topics I'm not into, so I don't watch.

I'm sorry I don't speak computer-ebonics, please type in English.

Your wrong this show is probably only good because of Woody Paige. The guy is crazy and is funny to watch. I do agree this show isnt even close to PTI.

reply

Why do you use ATO for Around the Horn?

reply

personally, i like it. I think woody is great, and him and jay mariotti's ongoing feud is great. Plus Stat boy is a pretty good host. anyone care to remember max kellerman? I agree though about the PTI guys, theyre a little better.

I'd just like to say I am a big fan of both these shows, think they are both good in their own way and liked seeing them on back to back daily. I think around the horn is important because it doesn't just show the opinions of two grumpy old men. As mush as I like Kornheiser and Wilbon, ATH has a better mix of characters ranging from Michael Smith to Woody Paige. Seeing the young guys in their definitely contrasts how different opinions can be for someone 20 years younger. By the way, I am tired of everyone hating on Woody Paige too. Yes, his ideas are almost always farfetched, but he part of what gives the show so much personality and they are always more fun to watch when he is on the panel.

I agree. Woody Paige is great and his feud with Mariotti goes way back to their Denver Post days (I encourage everyone to read both Mariotti's and Paige's columns when they were with the Post)...it's quite fun to watch and I view ATH as entertainment rather than something serious.

PTI? Those guys are good and I occasionally stick around to watch, but its just my taste just as it is everyone's.

reply

I like ATH but I do find it a little weird how they have ATH and PTI back to back since they cover virtually the same topics. It gets really ridiculous when you have 1st and 10, ATH, and PTI all in the same 2 hour period.

reply

WHOEVER STARTED THIS CONVERSATION HAS HORRIBLE TASTE... AROUND THE HORN IS THAT S***. AND WOODY PAIGE HELPS MAKE THE SHOW WITH HIS HUMOROUS RAMBLINGS AND MESSAGES ON THE CHALK BOARD... WHOEVER SAID THEY DIDN'T LIKE THIS SHOW IS WILIN... JUST MIGHT BE THE BEST SHOW ON TV

reply

its one of my favorite shows dammit!PTI as well...

reply

I love it too. Tony reali in my opinion is very witty, not laugh out loud hilarious, but amusing. Tim Cowlishaw and Adande are the intelligent type of funny. While, Woody is just hilarious. Then you have the villans, like Mariottie and Plaschke that you can hate on. And Michael Smith who is like your good friend. I really enjoy this show, it is one of the things ESPN has going for it at this time.

ATH is good but PTI>ATH in everyway

reply

I don't understand how a lot of people can't just enjoy both ATH and PTI, they make it seem like there's a rivalry between the shows.

Woody Paige: Look at the schedule guys!

reply

It is good...

PTI is by far the better show. What's the logic behind this ATH show? Have some scumbag decide who said the right thing about a certain topic? Lame concept. Paige may be interesting but he is still an idiot.

reply

around the horn is my favorite show still on television.

but i feel for the people who dont like it and say they hate catching the end before PTI lol... thats EXACTLY how i feel when i hear jim rome's voice saying 'i am out.' when i turn the TV to espn too early...

but yeah, i DO like PTI as well... but it isnt needed like i NEED MY FIX OF ATH! i got espn news just so i have a second chance to catch it (among the other obvious sportsfan reasons)

plus thanks to cowlishaw i hear the word 'hockey' (even if not the topic) on espn besides the last two seconds of SC.

"Shhh he's talking about his area."

reply

I love this show. I used to watch it every day when I was in high school. I'd always go around and say "these four things I know are true". PTI blows. That show isn't half as good as ATH.

reply

I agree, this is the best show on ESPN, period. The scoring that people seem to get so wrapped up in doesn't really matter as much as the humor and hilarity that these guys(and gal) bring to talking about the day's sports news. If you just sit back and don't take them seriously(obviously they seem to not take themselves to seriously either, except for Mariotti) than you'll laugh your ass off.

Besides there is no reason to watch PTI since ATH already covered the exact same topics right before it!

reply

it's nothing but a bunch of loud-mouthed sports writers yelling their opinions at the cameras. and woody paige was the one who coined "Jagwads" back in '96 before they upset the broncos.

i do like some of the other guys on the show, but there are many i dislike. i just feel like sometimes on ESPN they act like they're more important than the sports they cover, an elitist type attitude, snobbish and rude. i'm sure they're just trying to be entertaining but to me it's just annoying.

but i don't watch the show.
