Cry.

This is not a movie about math. Its not about genious nor mental illness.
It´s about a fragile women crying for most of the time. And if you have any amount of testosterone in your system. You will find this movie apaling.

She cries when shes having sex. She cries when they don´t trust her. She cries when they DO trust her. She even cries when shes dreaming, and continue to cry when she wakes up. It goes on and on, its riddiculess.

reply

maybe because she's grieving....
i don't know what movie you were watching but the movie was supposed to be centred around the girl who is on the verge of insanity.
i also watched it with a guy who absolutely adored this movie....
so don't really know what you're talking about....
also...perhaps some spelling lessons might help

I want chocolate biscuits...and you're disco biscuit...

To the OP,

I am really, really glad I don't know you.

You sound like a truly horrible person.

You sound as if you do not contain one ounce of understanding in your genetic composition (figure of speech here...I KNOW this is, so far as modern science can prove, an impossibility).

To put it bluntly, you sound like a total jerk.

reply

i like the movie but what he says is true..kinda funny

reply

Good God, people, HER FATHER DIED. Maybe you don't give a damn about your parents and won't cry when they die, but other people do.

reply

Maybe i am a total jerk. So what? That doesnt mean that im wrong.

Infact the only point in your post was to insult me, that makes you the jerk, not I.

Lets continue the conversation when your older shall we?

sure, why not.

although i know it won't make any difference to my responses, it might give you time to grow up a bit.

reply

Have you grown up yet?

Do yourself a favour and drop the spelling remarks. This is a site for people around the entire world. Some of us has english as a third or even fourth language. This is understood by most people here, so the spelling remark that are meant to make someone look stupid, has the complete opposite effect.

Anyhow, did you see "A Beautiful Mind"? How many times did you see Nash cry? No, this isnt about "verge of insanity" it´s about crying. Grief or no grief.

reply

HMMMM.....shes got reason to cry, sheesh...

reply

She's depressed. She spent most of her time caring for her crazy dad, then he died and she was basically the only person she was close to, and she had to deal with that annoying ass sister.

Aha, i thought something else

rofl!

reply

Okay? You said you were thinking something else. What were you thinking?

R.I.P. Heath Ledger

reply

oh she was alright. it's her way of coping

she was neither a weak person, nor a good person. her crying is of chemical nature

P.S. or it's just that Paltrow has a very limited acting ability and the filmmakers decided it would be better if she cried a lot instead of walking around the set with a numb face

The characters were so shallow and the script so poorly written. So who cares?

reply

You clearly know nothing about depression.

reply

Well, thank you for that psychoanalysis genius.

reply

Yes. And these commenters not only know nothing about depression; they know nothing about the human soul.

"Det heter löjligt på Svenska."

It's called the ridiculous in Swedish?

The movie?

I think our Swedish friend means the thread - not the movie.

Also, it translates to, "In Swedish, this is ridiculous." My thought here is that they just wanted to say it was ridiculous and they didn't know the perfect English word :)

Being happy is like peeing yourself, everyone sees it - but only you feel the warmth!

I really like the movie, I really like Paltrow's acting. But somehow I can feel with the OP. And this though I have some knowledge of depression, but perhaps not as deep as others here.

I think that one can get the impression of over-much crying. At least the crying-after-sex felt somewhat strange to me. A bit like evasion, as if Paltrow didn't manage a more convincing facial expression, so that she has to cover her face. But on the other hand I can also empathise with Catherine's crying in this scene, thus it didn't bother me very much.
