'Graphomania'

Regarding an earlier post about Anthony Hopkin's character having "graphomania", I think it's interesting to note that "graphomania" is defined as, "an obsession with writing." We know that Gwenyth's character was afraid of having inherited her father's illness, however it is notable that her sister, who is supposed to be the "normal one", displays symptoms herself in having to compulsively write everything down and make lists in her little book. I wonder if I'm reaching or if others noticed this little connection/detail as well. ;)

Oooooh nice observation! :D In theory, a mental disorder wouldn't be exclusive to only one offspring.

My sister & I share characteristics of OCD. She has a thing about checking the stove burners, while I make lists and collect mostly electronic items (ebooks, music, movies, tv series episodes). I don't even read or watch or listen to them, for the most part; but when it gets in my mind, I feel compelled to get them, or I feel out of sorts.

Cool observation! Not at all reaching.

I agree with the other posters, I don't think you're reaching at all. I think I'd noticed it, but it was never talked about, so I forgot about it.

right, there are several tidy bits like that. like that she is a currency analyst. because as she explains she only "inherited 1/1,000th" of her fathers mathematically brilliant mind.
