ground Turkey

Do Poles have a particular beef with Turkey? I'm no great fan of Turkey but there are a lot more evil nations than Turkey. Turkey never conquered Poland. Were the filmmakers afraid to villainize a worse country, as that might invite terrorism in response? Is this a holdover from before the red curtain fell, as Turkey hadn't been communist as with Albania, Kurdistan, etc? Or am I reading too much into this, while the film's set-dressers simply liked the look of Turkey's flag? :)
