Close .... but what's with amateur filmaking + Seagal dubbing
I just watched Out of Reach and need to vent.
What the hell is the dubbing about? Surely Seagal isn't SO busy that he can't fit in some voice overs.
What's with the amateur hour filmmaking?? Boom mike's in the shot. Amateur camera angles, poor takes, poor editing.
How WONDERFUL was the building in the final scenes, and baddie hangout?? I'm surprised this building has never been used before.
Now, I am a Seagal fan. And I like the almost film-noir approach to these new European films, but they need some serious script tighening. A great line, from a cool baddie, then some amateur line and poor acting. Repeat.
I kept waiting for the twists in Out of Reach. Was the police-girl in on it? I just wanted a twist ... any twist.
Here's my questions:
What happened to the CIA? Lose interest?
What happened to the Senior Baddie guy that warned Faisal early in the film?
What happened to the other kids?
What did Faisal expect the coded caviar canapes to say? Why give the little girl a chance to correspond with Lancing?
Did Faisal leave the message on the mirror that said Lion Hotel? Wouldn't he think the little girl might use a more complex code than that?
Why was the little boy in danger? (they should have had Faisal see him in the car)
Why did they trust the hotel guy where the traitor supposedly killed the hooker?
When Faisal said "take 5 men" to the brothal ... who else did he have to take? There was no-one at the building when Seagal got there.
Why didn' Seagal go there immedaitely ... instead he went the next day? Did he sleep well I wonder?
After all the time Faisal spend kicking and training in the film, why did the last fight have virtually no martial arts or even physical fighting?? Faisal even walked out in front of Seagal? Would you do this to an obviously deadly foe that has wiped out all your men.
I don't expect Seagal films to be flawless (nothing is anymore), but there is some glaring stupidity.
These films are soooo close to being worthy of Seagal. I love so much about them, but then hate the stupid things they do. Damn it.
