Dorcas

I thought the interaction between the straight-talking domestic-help, Dorcas and Andrea, interesting.
Initially she found him a michevious problematic foreigner, probably because he didn't speak English. By the end however she showed some affection, and during the radio concert showed a great deal of pride, stemming probably from her association with someone so talented. One could speculate that she may have organized the radio party off her own bat without the sisters' knowledge. Of the three ladies in the household, her's seemed the most mature interaction. Probably being lower in the pecking order than Ursula and Janet she was in effect prohibited from manifesting the sort of emotions as exemplified by the sisters. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it - or what the hell - a superb film anyway, Dench as always magnificent - liked her in Chronicles of Riddick too.

Hey. I liked your observations of Dorcas and Andrea's interaction.

Ann: I miss you every day.
Ed: Yeah, your aim sucks.

I thought he was a bit of a jerk to Dorcas -- freeloading off of Dorcas & the two sisters and complaining (& ridiculing) Dorcas insisting he do a little work peeling potatos; as well as teasing her when she's beating the rugs (a tough job) and not offering to help? He seems the lazy primadonna Andrea didn't do any hard work to help out when he recovered.
