Burning Elvis

I couldn't believe that scene..where Richard Kind as Elvis impersonator takes another swig of liquor and drops his lighted cigarette and burn to death. I can't imagine anyone that stoned, (I presumed he was suppose to be ) could not feel the first flames on his body and wake up and Kim looking so helpless by throwing a small glass of water on him and just leave. Turned it off immediately..
