Why does everyone hate this movie?

I'll admit that when I first saw it, I didn't like the way it adapted the Dark Phoenix saga.

But upon rewatching it, I'll admit that, on its own, its a good film, if still a step down from X2, and I can't understand why most people hate it and consider it one of the worst comic book movies of all time.

Can someone explain?

I personally enjoyed this movie. I didn't hate it like the fan boys did.

I haven't read the Phoenix Saga from the comic books, but that seems to be the issue most people have when it comes to this movie. I've always enjoyed it, though.

I just recently rewatched it and I have to agree with you, I really don't understand the hate, it's most definitely a decent movie.

Like you said it's a step down from both X-Men and X2 (which were both great movies), but Last Stand is still decent and did it's job completing the first trilogy. Now Origins Wolverine is one of the worst comic movies of all time, not Last Stand.

I enjoyed it more than the first and second film. More action and extra Jean/Pheonix. Less teeny-bopper angst type crap than the first two.

Fans can at least admit one thing:Beast was freaking amazing. Hoult isn't bad, but I want Grammer back. Hoult was in 3 movies already, Grammer only in this one.

The hate is mostly aimed at the rushed storytelling, poor execution of sub-plots, too many characters most of which were poorly handled and the plot felt like it wasn't well focused. I also personally didn't like how Magneto, Dark Phoenix and the Brotherhood (they looked more like the Morlocks or something) were depicted. The only good things about the movie that I can think of are the action scenes, Kelsey Grammer as Beast and the scene where Angel flew out the window.

Dunno. I, for one, liked it.

It's my favourite of the franchise.
