People are missing the point........

I don't really think this movie was about Cara as much as it was about Matt. Cara obviously had flaws - she pushes people away, she doesn't let anyone in, she hasn't experienced what one would call a "normal" childhood. Ok, that really sucks for her.... BUT, at least she is aware of the fact that:

A. She DOES close her self off from people
B. She realizes that her singing sucks without any feedback from Matt. She does ask him, but only because she realizes this herself.

Matt is completely oblivious to his own dejected life. He fully convinces himself that he is the "Pizza King" and by projecting this new image of himself, he is able to supress his true feelings about his own life. When Cara confronts him about having to mop up the pizza place, he completely denies it. For a second, you really actually believe that he believes himself.

The question this movie presents to the viewer is- nothing in life is perfect, but are you Cara, or are you Matt?

Are you the person who is able to accept how things are and try to move forward, or are you the kind of person who never wants to take that big risk. The kind of person who hides behind things that do not make them truly happy.....

Personally, I felt worse for Matt than I did for her. Not because he is a pizza delivery guy, but because he let his dreams go without even fighting for them.

So are you Cara, or are you Matt?

Wow thanks. I just saw it yesterday on IFC and I had not thought of it in that way.

Very well put. Couldn't have said it better, myself.

Ladies and gentlemen, the party is over. Have a nice apocalypse.
