New York. Has. The Best. Pizza.

This is not up to debate.

Well, I guess it is as this is a forum for debate and such. But calling any pizza but New York's the best makes Jesus cry. Do you want Jesus to cry?

the world's best pizza is Mario's, in Sherbrooke, Wyoming. Everybody knows that.

I do not agree. New Haven, Connecticut makes the best pizza and people who eat any other pizza have got to be, in some sense, kidding. Pepe's, Sally's, Modern Pizza ... take your pick.

"I think that says 'fragile', honey."

I grew up in CT, and after hearing about Pepe's for years, I made a small pilgrimage to Pepe's to see what the big deal was. Nice. What a closet! I stood in line forEVER to get a couple of slices of good pizza. Was it worth the trip and the wait? Absolutely not.

But generally, that tri-state area has a LOT of pretty good pizza places. And I prefer them all to that deep dish madness in Chicago.

If you ever watch "Beer League" with Artie Lang, him and his girlfriend get some slices at Coney Island. I am drooling just thinking about it. THAT's the pizza I love!

Yeah, but see, you're highly biased.
I'm a chef. I live in California. I believe that New York pizza is the absolute finest, benchmark pizza that all other pizzas are measured against, and I have no bias, as a matter of fact, I hate NYC. Chicago is good, but it's just not New York. You do, however, win hands down on hot dogs... or anything sausage for that matter. Chicago, Hog Butcher To the World.

However the best answer to your question is "Wherever you are."

For a split-second, your post reminded me of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off": "So, you're Abe Froman, Sausage King of Chicago?"

Having NY pizza was the biggest disappointment of my 24 years of living. Surprisingly im not 200 lbs but growing up ALLLLL i ever wanted was pizza pizza pizza, my family still says now "youre going to turn into a pizza"....so I actually love San Francisco pizza...they do many styles well here and as well as that s.f. style that is not similar to "california pizza kitchen" at all.........ANYWAY, i moved to the eastcoast and i COULDNT wait to try the pizza...oh my GOD...u call that *beep* pizza?! i mean, it's like sbarro's at it's best. I had some good pizza in NY, but i had a LOT of average or bad pizza. It lacks sauce, flavor, everything. New York Style Pizza is a joke it's like a thin piece of cardboard with melted cheese. barf.

I have to agree with the O.P....Chicago has the best pizza of anywhere i've been. crust, sauce, cheese, immaculate!

never miss a chance to have sex or appear on television.

It's been my experience that the best pizza is the small family owned pizza joints in smaller towns, or in larger towns tucked away in some forgotten cornmer of the city. Believe it or not, the best pizza I ever had was in a little town about 15 miles from Montreal. Yeah, I know... weird, but true.

Not a big fan of deep dish, but PIECE in Chicago makes what is probably my favorite pizza in the world (it's not deep dish). It's a misconception that Chicago only has deep dish around. There are so many great pizzas available there, and no two seem to be alike!

Lemmons/Blackthorn in St. Louis makes my favorite deep dish in the world. The reason I actually like that deep dish is because it isn't like a bowl of tomato sauce served on a pizza crust. Instead they lay down a crust, then cheese, then another crust, then more cheese, then whatever toppings you order. It's cheese heaven.

St. Louis is a pretty grand pizza town in general. That new president dude had the owner of PI come from St. Louis to the White House just to make him some of their pizza. That must've hurt, Chicago!
