alternate ending

The alternate ending is actually quite funny for miike fans. It is a spoof/injoke of Miikes DOA. When the gangsters start walking down the pier to Riki and the girl at the end, Riki crouches over and rips his soul out (this is shot exactly as DOA) and 'fires' it as the gangsters who turn tail and flee (one of them says something like "Again!!!!").

We then see a shot of Japan from space, like in DOA. However instead of the explosion destroying the world, there is a tiny, pathetic little speck of smoke in the Tokyo area with appropriate sound effect.

I doubt whether this ending was seriously considered, its seems more like a joke for miike and his crew.

Dang, why wasn't that included in the USA DVD release? I would've loved to've seen that :(

What release is this included on? I just saw the Pathfinder release and the only extras on that one are trailers, a photo gallery and an essay.

In space no one can eat ice cream!

The alternate ending kicked major ass, although I'm sure it wasn't considered seriously. When watching the movie, we were chanting for Riki Takeuchi to grab a rocket launcher or even through the "soul-ball" (especially in the final scene). It's not that we didn't enjoy the film, it was just, that we were missing some crazy stuff, like we are used to with Miike.

Then when we saw the alternate ending, we went nuts. ;)

Okay movie, I just think I didn't quite get the entire story.

I got the story, but I just really wanted Seiji's enemies to all die.
