Helen Hunt

Maybe I'm missing something in the scheduling of this movie. Was it filmed prior to Helen Hunt's pregnancy? How is she supposed to be the ultra-thin exercise-obsessed Janine?

"If you ask me there isn't enough blue food."

reply

I imagine that Helen was likely in the beginning stages of her pregnancy when Empire started filming. I saw the filming in mid-October, met Helen, and she, of course, was incredibly thin at that time.

reply

Thanks for the info. These are the sort of questions that keep me up at night! Of course she probably did'nt balloon up like us mere mortals do when we're pregnant.

If you ask me there isn't enough blue food.

reply

Hmm I don't know..seems to me this was shot before her pregnancy. It's not good to lose weight during pregnancy and she is thin here. She could have worked just two months on shoot and then got pregnant

reply

Maybe her pregnancy hormones had overtaken her personality during filming to the point where she was unable to concentrate on her work, because I thought her performance in this film was the WORST! Anyone agree?

reply

Definately! Terrible Maine accent, she sure didn't do us Mainers any justice!

reply

I can't stand her. I think she is one of the top 5 most overrated actresses working today. I have no idea why anyone would cast her...

reply

um, dont know what ur talking about but sghe is extremely talented. whast movies of hers have u seen? she was great in this too. That scene with her and danielle panabaker at the car is amazing. please explain y shes overrated.

reply

Well, I mean for one she can't act. I guess a second reason is that she was in Twister.

reply

I totally agree.... she can't act.... she yelled at the camera throughout this movie, resulting in me not believing that part she was playing......

terrible acting

reply

I pictured someone sexier when I read the book. Someone more ... I don't know ... else

You know me. I'm just like you. It's two in the morning and I don't know nobody.

reply

There is something about HH's voice that I find grating -nasal, or something. She emotes too much.

reply

I don't care for her either. Her and PSH irritate me. I know, I know...he won the Oscar...woopity-doo...big deal. I still don't like him. I thought that the casting was perfect despite these two.

reply

Yeah I can't stand her voice. But that doesnt mean she can't act and some roles really suit her. I remember really liking that mad about you show, but I have recently seen a rerun and she is the most annoying wife there is, riding her husband all the way with that voice. It was perfect though in As good as it gets where she was worn out from years of parenting and again in Empire I thought her character was fitting because she was annoying.(punch in the face annoying) No one wanted to hear about her weight loss and of course Miles could never get a word in. She kept wanting to show off her body but no one cared and she was ripped off with the old man she was dating. She was a character easy to hate

reply

You can't hold being in Twister against actors. After all, Philip Seymour Hoffman was in Twister.

"There should be a role in every movie for Philip Seymour Hoffman." - Richard Roeper

reply

Good point. I think people are bashing Helen because she is a woman. PSH is no better the actor.

reply

I hated Helen Hunt in this film! Had the other actors not been so good and convincing, she definitely would have ruined the entire film.

reply

yea I hated Helen Hunt in this too. I think she is a terrible actress. Everytime I saw her in this the scene was ruined....

reply

NO. I think she played the overly combative and frustrated ex wife superbly. She depicted a woman who is going through a rough time very well.
