I have been trying to find out whether she was or not myself, but I'd like to say that she could very well be all black and you wouldn't know it. My grandfather was a black man, but if you didn't know that and you saw him on the street you'd think he was white (which has a big part in his death unfortunately). He had light skin and blue eyes. I never met him but I've seen many pictures and his brother, my great uncle, is still around and looks the same way. In his old age he even reminds me of Santa Claus. Granted, if I were to trace the family tree (but I don't really have that luxury) I'd probably find many instances of attempts to "bleach out the line" which would account for the paleness of skin and blue eyes, but that doesn't change the fact that both of their parents were what we'd consider African American and not "Mulatto" or anything.
