Feels incomplete... like a tv pilot

Just when I really started to get into this movie it ended. It feels like there's a good 30 minutes of plot on some editor's cutting floor. I liked the setup, the feel the characters, the yesteryear era in the tropics look, just not the plot. The movie built up to no resolution and the big finish is something to read and not to watch? Not even a voiceover or a flash forward? It would make a good pilot for a period drama set in Puerto Rico. Maybe then we could actually explore the island, the period, the culture.

Totally in agreement with you. It's missing at least 20 minutes.
It was a good movie. It could have been a great movie.

Like everyone else in this thread I really liked this movie up until...the ending, if you can call it an ending. Even the other person I was with was like WTF, that's it?!? Horrible.

Here's how you end it...

They win the bird fight, they print the paper, the deal is exposed, the girl goes home to mom n dad, Sala is run over dead by persons unknown, Kemp becomes editor and the navy gets to keep shooting on an uninhabited island.

Exactly.

When I watch movies I like to press on the "time" button and see how much is left. When this movie showed that there was only 10 minutes left, I kept thinking "No... There is NO WAY there is only 10 minutes left, My DVD must be lying to me.

I just couldn't accept that the movie was over, I just couldn't. It was an awful way to end this. It really feels like there should have been a sequel or at least some deleted scenes or something
