Release Date moved to July 22
"Rebound" had been set for an April 8 release, after they were originally targeting March 18. Those dates made some sense to me, considering that they came either during the midst of March Madness or just after it. They'd be able to promote the movie heavily during the NCAA tourney. Also there weren't a lot of family movies scheduled for release around those dates, and they'd have had several weeks before the summer blockbusters hit the theaters.
But the cast were told a couple of weeks ago that the release date has been pushed out well into the summer - July 22. I guess the producers feel that they'll benefit more from increased ticket sales from kids out of school than they'll be hurt by a basketball movie being released out of season or by several blockbusters being released earlier in the summer. But since this is a family comedy and not a hardcore basketball movie (like "Hoosiers" or "Coach Carter"), I suppose being released out of season shouldn't hurt them too much. And it looks like the latest release date currently listed for one of the so-called blockbusters is July 1 for "War of the Worlds". So maybe July 22 is a pretty good release date.
Sure hope they're right. This looks like it should be a fun movie...
