You probably don't wanna see it with your mom, cause it will be awkward. At least I don't like watching movies that deal heavily with sexuality and relationships with my parents.

I agree w/the other poster; I wouldn't see this flick w/a parent unless you have a cool parent that wouldn't mind watching gratuitous sex scenes(regardless of how hard or soft core they are) and actually, how many parents are there that would "indulge" their kids w/that sort of movie, yeah? Personally, I wouldn't watch this w/my own mother and I'm over 25...snicker. Watch it w/your buds and just admire Gregory Smith's pectorals, his eyes,...wooo, that boy is hot!

Uh, what movie are you guys watching? There isn't a sex scene in this movie. The closest it comes to that is Frances O'Conner's character rolls around with the boy on the floor and it shows them in bed together kissing and that is about it.

The only other scene is when her husband gives her a quickie from behind in the bathroom but nothing is shown and it isn't very sexual.

Quite frankly, I don't understand how this got an R rating.

Even though you don't see anything, I'm guessing implied sex with a minor is frowned upon....

Greg Smith and Simon Baker both seemed to have no problem showing skin - Greg lean and lithe, Simon, pale and perhaps a little "doughy," but not too bad. Also in the beginning, the swim team guys in their little suits, including one guy who shows his very hairy armpit. The love scene with Frances O'Connor was, thankfully, a little restrained, as compared to, say, the scene of a similar nature in Door in the Floor, which is really a "hard" R. I'm sure this movie got its R not just for this scene, but the adult nature of the story. I must say, I knew a little of the plot, but was not expecting the scene with Greg and Frances. She and Simon actually seemed so content and happy, that it's hard to believe she succumbed to Greg's advances. Teling her husband set up the rest of the tragedy - he was obviously devastated. But for me, when they didn't throw the kid out, I just couldn't suspend my disbelief anymore, and immediately ejected my DVD and sent it back to Netflix.

The reviewer that was deemed most useful and you point out that wife didn't seem to have a reason to cheat. I think that was the point of the movie. Good people that do bad things and can't really explain why. That is what makes us human. We aren't black and white. We are a bunch of hypocrites! We have these ideals and sometimes act against them.

I read some other comments that express some animosity towards Frances. I actually felt sorry for her and the others. This was the first time I watched a movie about infidelity and didn't hate the cheater. This movie is atypical because it doesn't vilify anyone.

btw thanks for the Door in the Floor reference. I just added it to my Netflix queue.

Dont worry about the R-rating. Just focus on the fact that a woman has sex with a boy young enough to be her son. He wrestles and gets a boner with her husband, his father figure, and then stabs him in the knee. Do you really want to see this Oedipal film with your mom?
