Saw The Movie Tonight

I just got back from a test screening. We were told that we were the first audience to see this film. Heather Graham is excellent in a quirky, goofy performance as a woman who discovers she is gay when she falls in love with her brothers fiancee on the night before their wedding. Tom Cavanaugh is also excellent as Gray's brother. Bridget Moynahan seems to be playing just her usual gorgeous self - nothing special about her performance. There are some very funny scenes, but the work print we saw suffered from a few minor pacing issues and it needs a better ending. Sissy Spacek was, alas, wasted in this film and given very little screen time. Her role seemed almost unnecessary, although she does get one or two funny bits to do. Overall, I thought the film was very entertaining.

garybass,

Tell us more about the movie. I've tried in vain to get any information about this film, given that you've seen it - inform me.

Does the film take place in one day (the day before the wedding)? I want to know more about Bridget's role. Is she just eye candy in this film? Or does she have an important part? Give some examples of the "very funny scenes". Do Heather and Bridget "get together" in this film in the end? Some other poster wrote that there was nudity in this film, is that true? If so, who goes nude?

Also, if you can remember any interesting tidbits of information, share them.

Here's some more about the movie. The film does not take place in just one day. The night before the wedding is when Heather has the revelation that she is gay, but most of the film takes place after Bridget and Tom are already married. I don't want to give away too much, but let me just say that Heather and Bridget have a passionate kissing scene :) There IS a single brief scene of nudity in this movie, but unfortunately, it is neither Heather nor Bridget who is nude, just an extra who Heather sees on the street (she imagines her being nude). However, Bridget has a few scenes in which she is quite scantily clad, and one scene in which she is completely nude, but everything is strategically covered up by the items she is holding.

Bridget is basically playing the sweet, beautiful, girl-next-door type for Tom Cavanaugh (and Heather) to fall in love with. There is not a lot of emotional depth to the role.

There is a funny scene where Heather and her taxi driver friend (Alan Cumming) go to a lesbian bar and Alan dresses up in drag so he can get in, then he gets hit on by a particularly butch lesbian. Just about every scene with Molly Shannon in it is hilarious, especially a scene in which she is spreading office gossip. In another scene, Heather decides to not be gay and is determined to start dating, so she goes and asks out the first guys she sees. She's alone in an elevator with a nerdy-looking guy and asks him to dinner. The guy actually turns around and looks behind him to see who she is talking to.

Here's an interesting tidbit: In one scene, Gloria Gaynor pulls both Bridget and Heather up on stage to sing "I Will Survive" with her.
