i just saw it

i just saw the movie, and i thought it was an excellent movie. Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee and the little girl that played the younger character of Rani were phenomenal, their performances were excellent.

i would definitely recommend people to watch it.

Yes, an excellent movie. It's made for the oscars me thinks :D. Amitab was so good. It got a bit sentimental with that speech in the end. But I thought this was one of the best movies I have seen recently.

And I'm very critical of Bollywood masala movies. This ones just superb.

Amazing fact. that movie opens closes and even goes on withough glitch...
The young Michelle. actor per excellence..Rani and amitabh too good..
I also think this is the movie worth an Oscar..

But if you have noticed lately oscar is all materialized.. you have to be american...and plus.. they give awards only to original movies. that is why lagaan wasn't given awards....
But what about LORD OF THE freaking Rings.. this was a total myth how did it got all those awards...

Wwel... if all the NRIs' get togther and bring Black up a notch.. it might do the wonders.... and if directors like MIra Nair, Shekar Kapur and Gurinder chada recomends or even backs up.. i bet it might work...

Without doubt, this is a pathbreaking movie....One of the finest India has produced.....SLB has done a marvelous job, which no other Director could have created...Would it be an exaggeration to say that this movie is beyond the Oscars?? ........ this is a movie which does not have to look out for an Oscar .....THIS MOVIE IS BEYOND AWARDS.... And who says Oscars have always given credence to the better movies...???

All-in-all, Mr B crossed yet another barrier in acting ...Kareina would certainly have not suited the role....Rani did a fantabulous job... no one else could have carried the role so beautifuly... the girl (young Michelle) has perfrmed years beyond her....soo good, that it is scary to think talent comes so early in life..

Speelbounding....enchanting....and tear-jerking ....movie for the soul....
a toats to SLB, and all involved in it ... you have created history...and you should be proud of it....

Yes i agree. I dont think Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film Category is the greatest honour an Indian movie can get but still the award is very prestigious. I think directos like Shekhar Kapoor and Mira Nair must promote this film in the US because i think this is the best chance to get an Oscar. If Black gets an Oscar then it will encourage Sanjay Leela Bhansali and other good directors to make these kind of movies. I also think that this film can do very good business in overseas market(US and UK) if promoted properly.

reply

Well they've screwed up slightly overseas. I live in the UK. At my end of London, the local place couldn't get a copy of the print, and nowhere nearby could. So I had to travel quite far to see it. Testament to the film is that I'm ready to do it again.

Shame there weren't enough prints to go around.
