You (sriksp) and Palaria have the best list so far.
Considering this list is Bollywood only, here is my list:
Anand - I can never have enough of this Hrisihikesh Mukharjee classic
Khamoshi (1969) - what should I say.. this Asit Sen masterpiece always brings me tears
Mughal-E-Azam - Inspite of being B&W, K Asif's original epic is better than the remastered one.
Jaane Bhi Do Yaron - Number one comedy, a brilliant satire by Kundan Shah
Bandini - Bimal Roy's superb Nutan starer is another one the makes me cry
Sholay - Ramesh Sippy's complete movie, you can never have enough of this one too. My fav even though it is a copy of 3 western movies
Andaz Apna Apna - Number two comedy, Rajkumar Santoshi's brilliant parody of all Hindi movies ever made.
Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa - Another Kundan Shah movie - Sharukhs best movie
Shatranj Ke Khiladi - Satyajit Ray's only Hindi Direction, Munshi Premchand's story, Sanjeev Kumar's acting what more can you want.
Guide - Vijay Anand's best movie
Silsila - Probably Deewar, Lamhe or Kabhi Kabhi are some of his best movies but for me this is best of Yash Chopra's movies
Koshish - A brilliant movie by Gulzar about a deaf and dumb couple (Sanjeev Kumar and Java Bhaduri) Gulzar's Aandhi, Mausam and Angoor are good too.
Swades - Ashutosh Gowariker's Swades touched moe more than Lagan ever could
Dil Se... - Mani Ratnam's first Hindi movie
Naam - Mahesh Bhatt (when he used to make good movies) made this wonderful movie about drugs & crime though Daddy and Arth are some of his more critically acclaimed movies.
Hum Aapke Hain Kaun - Sooraj Brajatiya's HAHK is not a brilliant movie, but it was a bold move to make something like it. In honour of all the stupid family movies that came after this one.
My list lacks Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt movies, it does not have Mother India. The problem is I have not had the chance to see those movies since I grew up, as a Kid I could not fully appreciate them.
