..by the far the most overacted, overrated , +cliched movie

I have ever seen..
when i watch Indian movies, i lower my standards, throw all assumptions out of the window and get ready for 3 hours of mind boggling stupidity..which is not to say that they aren't enjoyable.
they are, in their own type of way. You can't help but be drawn into this fantasy world of over happiness and super-heroism..
then once in a while movies like this come along...
movies that aspire to be better...
but fail...becuase they are so over the top, over dramatic..just overdone.
i'm not denouncing Bacchan(??). he's a great actor, he's got great prescence on the screen..one of the greats..
but ever frame in this movie was overacted by him..as it was by everybody else..(i just feel his encompassed anoyone else's)i've never see him do that before though and thats what bothers me.watch Kaadhal for godsakes, there was SO much opportunity for the actors to overact, but u know...thats what makes a great movie, they never did that..it was so natural, you feel like you're watching real life.

this movie was such a bore..especially because i've seen at least 2 version of the hellen keller story on TV before..
so you gotta ask yourself, what redeeming value does a movie like this have..what can this movie offer?
Bhansali can't maintain a gripping narrative..you know everything thats going to happen before it does..
the ones i've seen...yeah their cinematogrphy wasn't that great but the actors in the american versions more than made up for it w/ their talent.
after watching this movie..i've lost all faith in hindi movies..i'm going to stick 2 watching hollywood, tollywood and kollywood movies.

at least we're not pretentious enough to steal ideas and pretend like we're making original/epical movies..
at least we're still Indian.

~CHILL OUT!!!! TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND CALM DOWN!!!

~ i disagree with a majority of your remarks.

~Its just a movie, how could it make you lose your faith in bollywood?

~I dont see any over acting in this movie or any other over rating stuff. This film isnt exactly a cliche is it? I dont see another movie with a smiliar plot released in bollywood do you?

~Okay maybe this was copied from another Hollywood movie but thats what some people do and maybe to some people who have seen the hollywood version, they think the bollywood version is much better. i havent seen the hollywood version and to be frank i dont care about the hollywood version.

~and you ask what does this film have to offer to viewers, and i answer, this movie has so much, it gives us an insight to the way other people live ,people who arent as fortunate as us to be able to use all five of their senses and rely on two and How they can live happy lives.

~And when you say you have never seen bachan act like that, you cant expect actors to just portray this one trademark behaviour throughout their acting lives, thats not what an actor is about. They are meant to play a variety of roles and adapt to them, and if Bachan needed to "over-act" as you say then why not? He bagged the best actor award for it. In my opinion he didnt over act. i thought his presence onscreen was wonderful. Its different and thats what people want! he's not a man anymore who is always portrayed a violent frustrated young rebel.

~also hadnt it occured to you that maybe people dont want to watch stories that are more real to life? I mean come on have you seen real life? All you hear about are deaths, murders, the way we are going to bring the end of the world more sooner than intended, sickness. if i wanted to watch something so real to life i would watch the news!

~and you say this

+++++++++++++at least we're not pretentious enough to steal ideas and pretend like we're making original/epical movies..
at least we're still Indian. +++++++++++++++++

~whats wrong with copying a few Hollywood movies? maybe the remake is much better than the hollywood version. at the end of the day, as long as it entertains people then WHO CARES!!!!!! and havent you heard? Hollywood have *stolen* an bollywood idea, Munna Bhai mbbs is going to be a movie staring Chris Tucker called Gangsta M.d, the plot is all very similar. So does that mean that hollywood is suddenley becoming pretentious?

~Just because bollywood copy ideas doesnt make them any less of an indian than you are so be careful at what you say!

P.S buy yourself a dictionary cause your spelling is terrible!!!!

reply

WelshLarki buying a dictionary may help his spellings but they don't change the fact that Black is indeed a ripped-off movie, not entertaining enough, not realistic, a wannabe-holly-flick made for the oscar entries.... i do see Amitabh overacting in this flick in ALOT of scenes. Probably the only reason he hyped Black was to win Filmfare Awards lol.

I agree with this thread...

Black is by far, one of the most overacted, overrated , +cliched movie

reply

The point is simple, Black is copied from Hollywood film of 1962, The Miracle Worker. I haven't nothing against remakes, but at least don't call it Bansali's original work.

reply

I think the real point is that one should be able to decide which movie to watch and which to not. Hollywood copies *are* as pretentious as Bollywood ones, so the viewer must be *smart* enough to throw them out. I am neither going to watch Munnabhai nor Gangsta M.D.

Get out of the Bollywood fiasco! There are better actors, better films, better writers and better directors all around the world, find them and watch their work.

I agree with you, but it wasn't THAT BAD.
It's a rip off and SLB hasn't done anything original (Devdas was a remake and Guzaarish was a remake of the sea inside). It was overacted but Rani Mukherjee did a better job than, say if Aishwarya, Katrina or Priety were cast.
It was waaay too long and there was a lot of pointless drama.
But, for an Indian/Bollywood movie it was of good standards. (that's more of an insult).

reply

I thought the acting was good!

And Indian films are known for the overacting.

Ashmi any question

It should be rated as every other movie out there. And for that, it's awful. So what that the main story itself is emotional and heartwarming? The way it's directed, acted, written, and also including everything from music to camera work - tragedy.
