Could have been a MASTERPIECE in Pixar's hands.

I watched this and was pleasantly surprised. However, I think the story (and source material) was good enough to create a masterpiece from, and this movie was no masterpiece. I think in better hands with better animation, it could have been better than Wall-E. There is some weighty material and themes here.

It really could have achieved greatness, but it does falter in places. I see this alot with animation: it comes so close to being great, and then trips up during the last 50 ft.

The whole Robot Revolution Force just felt sandwiched in. You could have just dropped them altogether and focused mainly on the kids and Hamegg.

I think what makes it kind of a letdown is it's a huge origin story. And then in the last 2 minutes, we see Astro doing what most know him for doing: running around in shorts taking out monsters.

"Thanks, guys." "So long, partner."
