Why did they have battle drones?

At the start of the movie, it's stated that nobody is building weapons anymore. War has been eradicated and nobody is building weapons. It says it right at the start of the movie. Why would they need battle drones if they weren't fighting anybody? What was the pointing of ANYTHING they were making at the start of the movie?

Also at the start, it's stated that everyone had to move to that floating city thing because there was no more vegetation on the land, but Astro Boy finds the big robot in the middle of a field. A field. A FIELD.

Vegetation started to re grow. That was the point of it.
The whole idea is the same as which Wall-E is based around.
Floating land because Humans trashed Earth. Earth heals when humans are gone.

As far as the drones go... yes. They had the whole peace thing. But that doesnt mean they dont stop creating if their boss says "create me super bots!" They do their job

Just to add to it. They were creating Peace Keeping Robots, not battle drones. The president wanted to apply negative energy to turn them in to killing machines.
