Hollywoodland Sign

Hmmm... Here is a piece of wood/metal on a hill, with a whitish hue, bulb sockets. Directly under the original sign location. Could this REALLY, REALLY, REALLY be a part of the original Hollywoodland sign. The one that was demolished in this very location and parts thereof left strewn around?

Really, Is this history?
Is this in any way a mystery?
Is this in any way interesting?
