Formerly great show gone down the tubes

It's really a shame. I refuse to watch the so called special investigations. This show also seems to be pushing a revisionist agenda which makes investigation they undertake high suspicious. Bye bye History Detectives.

Mr. Grady, you were the caretaker here.

Yeah, and they even got rid of Elyse!

reply

Not really sure I agree with the agenda, but the staginess and bad acting kill it for me. And that chick, acting like she just dropped in from "Scandal," is just too much...

Yeah, I think, and hope, this will be the last season of "History Detectives." They cut the number of hosts and the number of episodes, so the budget was also most likely cut. On the surface, it seems all of this adds up to the death knell for this series.

I watched part of the first Special Investigation and didn't see any of the other 3. It just wasn't History Detectives, just History Detectives in name only. They should have just called it Special Investigations instead of History Detectives: Special Investigation. But, then, the History Detectives fans wouldn't have turned in, would they?

reply

The three episodes I've seen have been sufficiently diverting that they held my attention, although I'm annoyed that they felt the need to have a "team" of investigators whose peregrinations, phone calls, etc, are shown. This is reality TV bullcrap, similar to Decoded (2010). Couldn't they just have a documentary on the Texas Servant Girl Murders or the Disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa sans the fictive investigators?

You say it's gone downhill. Was there a point when History Detectives (2003) did not employ the fiction of a team?

I have been watching for a long time, i like all the shows. none of the new episodes seem any different from the past. same epic camera views, jump cut views, great music, and stories.
