Well Done

I have seen most of these historical "house" programs, and, after all this time, I finally saw this one. I found it far superior to most, particularly "Colonial House" and "Regency House Party," both of which featured terribly weak and irritating participants who thought they were there to be activists for modern sensibilities (rendering the programs almost unwatchable). The famiy of "1940s House," on the other hand, indeed had a difficult time, but they stuck with the program, accepted the challenge, and didn't whine and complain about unfairness and inequities. They made the experience for the viewer both refreshing and illuminating.

I only ever watched this particular series of this genre (because it is the era I am most interested in), and I enjoyed it so much I bought it on DVD at a much later date. I thought the family they chose were ideal and almost accidentally, the matriarch seemed to benefit the most from this experience when in fact it was her husband that she proclaimed to be "obsessed" by WWII. He was evidently more fascinated by the idea of it as opposed to the reality.

If you would consider seeing it again I would suggest the DVD but having just looked it up on Amazon they want £63 for it!!! It must have gone out of circulation as I didn't (nor would), pay any such price for a DVD no matter how good! Wow I'm sitting on a nest egg!!
