for all guys, alfie comment regarding 'arm hair'

would u dump a girl for having arm hair? as alfie states being his reason for not being interested in the girl who says hello at the bar while he is with his friend...the one whom he cant remember the name. is that really a deal breaker?

reply

For a guy finding a reason not to commit to having a relationship it probably is...any reason will do.

That makes no sense!

A girl will also dump a boy for being bald. Arm hair is just as much disgusting.

reply

I ain't proud of it, but I would call it a "deal breaker".

My wife has no arm hair, but I wonder at the same how I would have felt if she'd had any when we met.

I should add that I know for a fact that the vast majority of other men don't care about it as much as me (and Alfie).

reply

Well, I do. lol

reply

guess what - all women have arm hair, its just shorter or lighter or not as thick on some. My daughter has a problem with it, and she gets it waxed and said it isn't fair that I don't have any - told her I do, you just can't see it (she still didn't believe me). So that's my info, for what it's worth.

Arm hair is definitly unnactractive in a woman. I'd still say it's not enough of a reason to totally ditch someone for, as long as it isn't over the top...then it becomes just as fair as any other average reason presented by any given woman for a guy not being physically attractive.

reply

it just goes to show how shallow he is.

reply

My boss thought I had no arm hair...I do, it just isn't that noticeable. All girls have hair on their arms, I assume Alfie is aware of that. He was probably referring to it being unattractively thick or dark. Even so, as someone mentioned above, he probably didn't actually care about it, it's just the best excuse he could come up with for rejecting the girl. He's not about to explain to Marlon that he's terrified of being trapped in a relationship with any girl; he probably doesn't really even realize the extent of it himself at that point in the film.

Thank you, Michelle. Guys on here are incredibly shallow. It is natural for women to have arm hair. All they have to do is shave it. I would date a girl who had noticeable arm hair, so long as she kept it shaved. Not a big deal at all. Sheesh.

It doesn't matter that you have arm hair if it's really fine and virtually invisible. So telling her that you do is no consolation to her.

why do people keep expecting women to be hairless? I mean, it just grows, you know. I know lots of women with armhair that are absolutely gorgeous and you'd have to be extremely stupid to not go out with them because of such a detail.

...and you'd have to be extremely stupid to not go out with them because of such a detail.

I guess that's exactly what they want to show in the movie.

Well, I guess I'm a freak but I find underarm hair on a woman extremely erotic. I go out of my way to look for movies to tape that show women with this turn on. Only closet homos (homophobes) would be turned off by this. It seems that European women shave somewhat less than American women (though this is changing).

I guess it's because I am a real nature freak. I don't like makeup, perms, dyed hair, or ANY kind of 'enhancements'. If a woman thinks she needs any of that, it's already way too late for her...she's already a loser. I have two beautiful daughters and a beautiful wife and, for the most part, they do not do any of those things. Do they shave their underarms? Yes, they do, and that is fine by me. If they didn't, it would probably no longer be a turn on for me.

I believe if nature gives it to you, wear it with pride and honor. Although I don't find leg hair particularly sexy on women, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me...unless, of course, it was longer and/or thicker than mine...shudder...which would be way too much hair for a woman.

Anybody know any GOOD movies that portray a woman's 'arm hair'? I'll add it to my collection.

He was specifically referring to girls with dark, thick and long arm hair. I completely agree that it is unattractive. I don't see what the big deal is with him saying he doesn't like it. Girls could quite easily, bleach, shave, wax or for a permanent solution get the arms lasered.

To all the women out there who say it is too 'shallow' how do you like excessive back hair on a guy?

For me it is not a deal breaker but I would expect the girl would take care of the problem as I would take care of my grooming.

You obviously don't have any idea how much time and money it all costs!!! Nowadays it seems a women shouldn't have any hair except on their head, eyelashes and plucked eyebrows - and what for? For some guys with heavy hair all over their body and maybe one who's even to lazy to shave his beard???
That's so sick!

I willingly remove all thick hair from my body but not the thinner hair which you can hardly feel.
Just for your information: bleaching looks horrible on some women (especially if their hair is naturally very dark). Shaving, well, some women have to shave their legs twice a day because the hair on it grows so fast. Some women shouldn't wax when they got problems with their veins and waxing often causes ingrown hairs. Creams often don't work or have side affects such as causing spots or even acne (honestly I think thin hair on the under arm looks better than spots). Laser isn't really permanent and very very expensive.

I had a friend who was obsessed about getting rid of all hairs on her body (not just the odd legs, armpits, facial hair, etc. but also on her tummy, her back, etc. - no she isn't very hairy, in fact you can hardly see it unless you are very very close to her, it's so tiny and thin). At the end she spent almost all of her spare time alone in her one rooom flat ripping out hairs with whatever she could financially effort (usually adhesive tape from the hardware store 'cause it's cheaper than wax).
It even ruined our friendship 'cause she didn't talk about anything else (she thought she wouldn't get another boyfriend -she's single for several years now- unless she looks absolutely perfect) and she saved up all her money for expensive make-up and stuff to remove her hair (she didn't even have a bed -just a mattress- no cupboards and just one chair in her flat and never went out again to meet with friends at a café or anywhere else). She used to be such a nice girl and very pretty (a slender brunette with big blue eyes) but she went totally nuts.

One shouldn't totally neglect one's looks (and more important hygiene!!!) but one shouldn't get obsessed with it 'cause there's more to a person than that!

reply

While I don't find it attractive, it doesn't bother me all that much either. But I have noticed how guys usually make a big deal out of it. So to be safe, wax, girls!

reply

Unfortunately, we're living in a world where even men having arm hair is sometimes frowned upon. In fact, men are finding hair removal more of a cause of stress than for women because hair grows much faster for men.

Anyway, my point is that, in today's world, hair isn't just unattractive on women. It's unattractive, period.

Having said that, I personally don't mind a little bit of body hair.

reply

It's not the arms Im so concerned with being hairy. Go a bit lower. Now that is a deal breaker.

MORE COWBELL!

reply

Loooooool!!

Who are you people?? Men are supposed to have some hair. It`s a part of their anatomy and sexiness.

To all men out there! Please don`t shave or wax. Most women like a little hair!
