Are the Bobby Jones heirs afraid of Titanic Thompson?

Now, here's the question the people in Georgia keep ducking out of embarrassment:

Why did the Bobby Jones estate allow the producers of the Bobby Jones "movie" to so overtly steal the same title from the previously-published TITANIC THOMPSON book, "TITANIC THOMPSON:STROKE OF GENIUS?"

A book about Alvin C. Thomas, the man who created the character and lived the secret life of Titanic Thompson, an acknowledged gambler, golfer, hustler?

See the book cover at: http://www.TitanicThompson.com

Make no mistake...the Titanic Thompson book was published about three years earlier than the BJ movie came out...in 2001.

Isn't this a bit beneath the legacy of Bobby Jones? Or, maybe not.

And also, of what are they so afraid?

reply

Afraid?

The heirs of Bobby Jones and the people of Georgia are not afraid!!!!!!

How dare you accuse people in Georgia (along with the Bobby Jones heirs) of..."ducking out of embarrassment" because they took the title from the already printed, TITANIC THOMPSON BOOK..."TITANIC THOMPSON:STROKE OF GENIUS," and used the title for that (admittedly) terribly boring movie about Bobby Jones.

And I also do not appreciate it that someone has said that the Bobby Jones heirs allowed the Hollywood producers to take the TITANIC THOMPSON book title simply out of ignorance due to the fact that they are not very smart because of..."In-breeding!"

That is not true!

Please, leave these Bobby Jones heirs and Georgia people to stew in their own juices.

If they have stolen...they WILL be punished!

A title cannot be copywrited.

Incase you haven't noticed, whammer, olympic and doodlesweaver is the same guy with several accounts. This pathetic nerd is probably involved with the book he keeps mentioning and all he wants is for people to go to the site he's linking. Needless to say, this nerd is one of the most pathetic, base-dwelling virgins on imdb, and you can tell by the retarded nonsense he spouts that you should just ignore him.

Underrated movie btw.

Ignorance is bliss.

That is not the question.

The question is why would they steal the title?

Now, here's the question the people in Georgia keep ducking out of embarrassment:

Why do you keep repeating (for 7 years now) the same allegation? (that the producers of the Bobby Jones movie "overtly stole the same title from the previously-published TITANIC THOMPSON book, TITANIC THOMPSON:STROKE OF GENIUS?"

Why do you keep promoting a book that nobody cares about? A book about Alvin C. Thomas, the man who created the character and lived the secret life of Titanic Thompson, an acknowledged gambler, golfer, hustler?

Use this thread to push a book that must provide some compensation to you: "See the book cover at: http://www.TitanicThompson.com";

Continue to claim it's a crime? "Make no mistake...the Titanic Thompson book was published about three years earlier than the BJ movie came out...in 2001."

Continue to beat a dead horse? "Isn't this a bit beneath the legacy of Bobby Jones? Or, maybe not."

Get over it already. There is no copyright law on titles. You have no standing. Get a life.

p.s. There has been a gay art show in NY for many years with the title "Stroke of Genius." Guess Titanic Thompson's heirs (i.e. YOU) are SOL!!

Hello ksmith!

Well, people are laughing at you and Rick Eldridge because you are so full of it!

To put a stolen title on a dog movie like Bobby Jones...and also take the same Rudyard Kipling quotes from the Titanic Thompson: Stroke of Genius, book and put them in Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius 2 years later...well, hello! People out here aren't as stupid as you might have thought.

By the way---neither are the creditors for the Bobby Jones movie. Look over your shoulder.

Finally, maybe the people you stole from are (as you put it) SOL...but at least they don't swim in it like you.

A thief...is a thief...and has a certain aroma. So...thieves will always be found out...called out...and named.

Bobby Jones Stroke of Genius "stole" quotes that were not Titanic Thompson's in the first place(they were Rudyard Kipling's)???!! Your logic is unique, to say the least.

Why do you attack anyone who defends the movie, for example "Finally, maybe the people you stole from are (as you put it) SOL...but at least they don't swim in it like you" - I did not make the movie, just really like it.

The large amounts of personal attacks in your posts mean you have to resort to hyperbole to defend your charges. If your charges held water you should sue, but, possibly because you have no legal case, you can't. Use your time more productively and try to sell the book, or make a film out of it.

p.s. Do you have a financial stake in the Titanic Thompson estate?

Kmcsmith:

You are truly a ...well, I cannot call you names because I was brought up with certain rules...like, "Do not sink to the level of dolts. They cannot help it."

I also was taught, "Do Not Steal."

You should have been so lucky as to have been raised correctly.

If you had been, you would not admire such a poorly written, terribly directed and laughably bad movie Rick Eldridge produced...the Bobby Jones debacle.

Bobby Jones deserved better...as do the investors who ponied up the money and the creditors who hound him for unpaid money.

But, you don't get it, do you?

So...adios, kmcsmith.

You stench from association with such a stinker has overcome all of us of proper upbringing.

No facts, just name calling. How typical.
