Too tedious for words

I can't tell if it is the acting or the directing, or both, but I have absolutely no emotion invested in Bobby Jones's character - from a young boy to teenager to adult, all left me cold. Especially Jim Caviezel's portrayal - it has confirmed for me that he has only one character style he can play.

In fact most characters are one dimensional, even Walter Hagen. And I don't know who Alistair Begg is (plays Stewart "Hit hell out of it" Maiden) but that "hand through hat" piece made me almost fall of my chair. If he is a genuine actor then I might give it a go - seems anyone can do it and get in a movie.

The film itself is a never ending stream of snippets, with nothing linking them together except for the unrelenting, inevitable, chronological plod towards his grand slam. I felt like the critic who, when already an hour into watching "Titanic" felt like screaming out "Just sink the damn ship - please!". I was the same, just willing the time to tick away to the end.

Such a shame, because Bobby Jones the man, is a very interesting subject and deserved more than this.
