Bar Scene with Unattended Drink

There is a scene in this film where Connie is sipping a glass of white wine and a woman gets up and leaves her red wine unattended. Connie slides over to the other woman's seat and sits there until the woman comes back. She says something like, "Never, never leave your drink unattended." And the woman looks at her like she's a leper.

I thought this scene was brilliant! I had just told my teen sister about never leaving her drink unattended anywhere, even near people you are comfortable with and know will try to protect you. Then I saw this movie. It only reassures me how careful we need to be everywhere. What a smart, respectful thing for her to do to try and help another woman! Kudos to the writers of this script. I was so impressed!

that was just stupid for that woman leaving her drink like that to begin with. Only a fool would think that if their drink is sitting on the bar while a bartender is around is just naive thinking.

I have this friend in Ohio who only drinks bottled beer when she goes out and she insists on opening the bottle herself

The producers were very smart to include this scene, because so many people don't think that bad things can happen to them. People have to be reminded to stay vigilant in regards to their own safety.

This real case touched me as I live very close to where this incident happened. I hope that this movie keeps being shown because everyone needs to be reminded that no matter who they are with they always need to stay aware of their own surroundings.

I was reading your post and I don't party or drink alcohol. If I'm in public drinking a soda or something, I have bottles that have twist on caps. That works too.

Everyone male and females should always watch their drinks. You should never let a guy bring a drink to you either. Also, even with co-workers and associates you should never go to the restroom and come back to the drink. One reason this story needed to be told is because this guy seemed like a polite, everyday, normal gentleman. I know a group of girls who went to a club and a guy they all knew from school happened to be there. One of the girls went to a seperate table with him. He went to buy the drinks. In about an hour her friends went looking for her and he was holding her up, walking her out the club! Be Very Careful!!!!!!

I have had 1st hand experience in this matter. My friend and I were out and someone slipped us something clear, tasteless, and odorless.

By the grace of someone I am not sure exists, a coworker of mine showed up at the club, realized the problem, and got us the Hell to the hospital. They found high levels of GHB and pumped our tummies and made us drink charcoal. If she hadn't had a fight with her boyfriend and came looking for me that night; well, who knows???

It was someone we met from High School and hadn't seen in 3 years. At least, we thought he did it. But by the time it was all investigated by the police there was no evidence. This was the early 90's and this was all very new.

From that point on I rarely went out to another club without a posse, and only drank bottled water. I would rinse the bottles before I opened them, and I kept the cap on between sips. I tell everyone, You can never be too careful. i thought I was always careful before this happened, I found out the hard way that I was not as careful as I thought. Trust nobody!

And don't worry, that bastard got his a few years later, and is no longer on this earth, much less a threat to anyone else.
