The Big Problem

After watching this again, I was really trying to figure out why this movie wasn't that great. I think the big problem is the way they chose Isabella's character to be. This breathy, airhead, sweet and innocent girl was really annoying. I mean, the world she came from apparently was all about instant gratification - aka, not such an innocent world. And yet, somehow, she doesn't even know what a d*ck is??? Dumb.

I get what they were going for (the contradiction between a witch and a sweet innocent girl just looking for love), but it didn't work. I think it would have been better if Isabella's character was more headstrong, sassy, and witty like Elizabeth Montgomery played the part of Samantha. Maybe Nicole Kidman could have played that part or maybe they would have needed a different actress - I don't know.

The one thing I do know, her breathy girly voice drove me nuts!

I kind of agree with you. It's just too much. And I love Kidman.

I think the big problem was their decision to make it a show about a show rather than just make a movie based on the series. That whole concept ruined the movie. It could have been halfway descent otherwise.

^^^^^^^^Exactly what parkpunk said!!! That was the main problem with this film.

Sorry, you can't have my autograph but we can take a picture.

She seems to be talking in whispers all the time. All I saw was hair whizing back and forth and eyes, everywhere eyes. You're right about the way they depicted her, for all that feminism, Nora ephron actually botched female characters most I the time by turning them into 12 year olds or worst, 10 year old... Boys (Katherine Kelly m, wtf?)
