Not Bad

I saw it for the first time last night and I actually thought that it wasn't as bad as most people thought it out to be. I mean, sure I didn't pay to see it when it came out, or even rented it when it came out on DVD because of the many negative reviews of it. But having just saw it I thought it was cute and a bit clever. It's not perfect by any means. Stephen Colbert should've gotten more stuff to do and Will Ferrell wasn't that funny. And Shirley Mclaine should've had more stuff to do. But it was still a nice movie to see.

One thing I must add is that I saw it on ABC and thought it was interesting that many of the films that hte network shows on primetime had at least one actor that's now in an ABC program in the movie. In "BeWitched", there was Kristin Chenoweth, who's now in "Pushing Daisies", and Kate Walsh, who's now in Private Practice, had a minor role in it. Same thing when they showed "Legally Blonde" and the sequel last weekend. Victor Garber was on the first LB film. He was also on Alias and is now on Eli Stone. And in the sequel, Sally Fields, who's now in Brothers & Sisters, was in it. Interesting.

I'm begging you for mercy
Just why won't you release me

I agree--it really wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. If one looks at it as an entirely separate film, and not a remake of the TV show (because it really isn't one), then perhaps it's more enjoyable.

Personally, I think I have too much bloom. Maybe that's the trouble with me.

I Kind of agree in terms of the fact that its a good cast working with an inferior script that doesn't seem to know quite where its going. Big acting shout outs should go out to Michael Caine who does what he can with a limited party same can be said for Shirley Maclaine. Also Kristin Chenoweth is great as the kooky neighbour. However the two leads just overact a tad which slightly grates after the first half hour but apart from that it is an OK film.

Yeah, it's not perfect, but still above average, compared to other comedies.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)
