MXC is infinitely better

Once you've seen MXC the UK version is painful to watch.

What's the difference?

reply

MXC is dubbed with an English (well, American) soundtrack. A few voice actors saying something funny in English over the footage. I've not seen it, but I'll stick with the UK version.

Craig Charles was funny in the first few seasons of Red Dwarf, but he is NOT funny at all in Takeshi's Castle. They don't even seem to be trying, it's painful to sit through. Plus they manage to avoid using the funniest clips, whereas MXC is full of crude jokes, double entendres and over-the-top editing, to make the most out of the footage.

I would buy MXC dvds but I wouldn't even watch Takeshi's Castle if I was bored.

"MXC is full of crude jokes, double entendres and over-the-top editing, to make the most out of the footage"

Which is exactly why it sucks.

reply

Definitely, the American version is awful. Craig Charles however, is hilarious.

"Ohhh, right in the love spuds"

"He got that one straight in the gunnells"

Classic lines.

That's what you use to encourage people to watch the show? That puts me right off and I haven't even seen it.

Sayonara, not to be confused with cyanide, which is, of course, goodbye in any language.

reply

Craig charles is a legend of the yarn. He makes Takeshi's Castle. The man should have a statue built in his honour.

MXC is infinitely crap!

The UK version IS Rather silly

The American Version is for mongos who think that kind of overdubbing is funny. Why the hell would you come onto this page(The UK Version) and tell people its funnier... if it was, they would be on the MXC page!

the names rather retarded as well isn't it? Most extreme elimination challenge? come on have an imagination

reply

davad its called most extreme elimination challenge as a joke.. because i don't know if you have noticed, but this show is meant to be a joke. i've only watched MXC and i'll stick with it, i doubt those unfunny UK retards could top it.

reply

When my Daddy was alive, I started watching MXC with him to spend time with him. I liked watching the people and wondering why they put themselves through the challenges.

however, the rude commentary = YUCK. It was really rude, not like, "Oh, he got that right in the balls!" I mean EXTREMELY rude and always about sex and just . . . gross. Always somebody named "Baba Ganoush," too. It was so very dumb - just well dubbed.

reply

The Dutch version seems to be a bit in the middle of those 2.
Haven't noticed any sex references not that i would be bothered by them.

They do seem to cut up the footage to get a mix of success and extreme failure.

Falling face first on one of the real stepping stones while falling down from stepping on a fake one etc.

reply

Never knew there was any UK version. MXC is better than the original Japanese version though.

Although the last post in this topic is several months old now, I just have to weigh in and say MXC is unwatchable garbage. Takeshi's Castle is beautiful in its simplicity, just games with Craig Charles laughing, commenting on how painful it all is and cheering on/deriding the contestants depending on how well they do.

MXC? Idiots spouting garbage. They could honestly do that on any show at all to the same effect, why ruin Takeshi's Castle with it?

Have you heard some of the names on it? High Rollers, already a play on words, is renamed "Log Drop", a stupid and disgusting name. Skipping Stones? "Sinkers and Floaters". Now imagine a whole show like that.

Don't watch MXC. For the sake of your intelligence, avoid it at all costs.
