µL¶¡¹D3 is for the fans, should've been strait to DVD

IA 3 is a conclusion for the fans and for the cult appeal the movie has taken on. Ironically where in the U.S. all the 3rd sequels are suppose to be overhyped big budget wam bam lets kill lots of stuff endings to a series, IA 3 is really more the cutting-room pieces of the previous two to have finality. IA 3 follows the pattern of, in reality, a few "present time" scenes which are then elaborated by a long delve into the past. In a way this represents the mental hell which Lautakwah is undergoing as it progresses to his insanity. So one scene is explained by "past" scenes which basically means the movie is a final overview of the lives Yan and Ming which is mixed with Lai Ming being "there" before and his huntdown. Its strange to see the two appear together onscreen as if no one has died which is really all happening in Ming's mind. And the ending is no wam bam but leaves you feeling ambivalent in many ways for how terrible they have all ended up and life just moves on.

So I say IA 3 should have really just gone to DVD and I'm sure with the approach that there was no real intent to have this be bigger and better than anything. This is a psychological drama, nowhere near an action film. Comfort Chan's score is just bits and pieces recollected to signify the important themes of the first with no new exploration. In the end this completes IA 1 in that the first movie never ended, it was a cliffhanger to mo gan doh 3.

You obviously did not understand **any**thing in the film, did you?

reply

Well I was watching it in Mandarin and I'm natively Cantonese.

Maybe your subtitles have given you a construed and ignorant Western interpretation of the movie.
