Curiously interesting but bad movie

Maybe it suffered in the translation to English, but what was the
purpose of this movie ... there was no resolution, no explanation
who or what the main characters were doing. Really weird, I kind
of like Rohmer's movies ... but I don't get this one.

The most amazing thing that was worth watching the movie for was
the marching by the Arc De Triumph which I had only ever seen as
a photograph, and the famous picture of the Frenchman crying at
the occupation of Paris.

What a horrible time that must have been.

I don't think that athis movie is interesting, I think it's horrible and very boring. I don't know if it suffered in translation to English, but I know in Italian is absoutly terrible and the problem wasn't the dubbing....

It was as dry as sawdust. It reminded me of French movies from the 1960's where the main character (male) would read out boring political claptrap to some beautiful woman who tries to look interested. In this movie its old newspaper articles of the time.

I kept thinking how an author like Alan Furst could have turned this material into a real hit. The time period, place, and topic are right up his alley.

This same incident was used for another movie called "Burnt by the Sun."
