The female assassin...

Everyone who's both seen the movie and read the book knows they're almost nothing alike. My question, though, is, why is she even in the movie? It's pretty safe to say she doesn't contribute much to the movie. Just my opinion, but she's just one of the many things that made this movie sub-par compared to the book.
