The ending of the book

I was really hoping someone else had posted about this already because I feel like an idiot. Oh well.

I loved the book, I don't understand the ending at all. Vincente figured "it" out, I'm guessing...I just have no idea what "it" is...

Can anyone help me out? What connected everybody??

Scully: Then we believe the same thing.
Mulder: Maybe there's hope.

I think he realized that the scene he had witnessed was identical to the dream he had told Fredo. So... I don't know. I'm pretty confused myself. I finished reading it a couple of hours ago and all I got was the feeling that Garland was just messing around to make the ending more ominous. If you'll believe that.

So, as to answer your question: I don't know.

I just finished reading the book as well and am scrambling all over the internet to find notes.

I think what Vincente figured out was that, really, maybe there wasn't anything to figure out.

That was the message i got.

He was so concerned and obsessive about everything, and in the end.... He realized that was silly.
