Andre passed away on July 30, 2004

While back home in Newfoundland for a summer visit, he picked up a plant which he popped in his mouth. Why he did this we don't know, but the plant was 'monk's hood', a very poisonous plant which causes circulatory & respiratory collapse. A doctor explained that this plant is so toxic that a child could be killed by simply holding its roots in his/her hands.

I am unaware of any suicide rumor attached to the death of Andre....
I was in Newfoundland when the story made the news....so this is the information that I read....
The story that was on the front page of The Telegraph (a NFLD paper) did not in any way even consider that it may have been a suicide.
Monkshood...can be deadly if the sap touches broken skin....let alone if it is ingested.
It was once used to coat the tips of arrows and spears...to insure that any wound in battle would result in death.
after spending the day on the water and beaches around his home town of Gambo with friends...he took his boat out to the island that his great grandparents once lived....and soon after he went home for supper, several hours later he began to feel ill and every attempt was made to get him to the nearest hospital.
His death is a loss to all of us.

We're all still in shock here, no one could even imagine Andre was gonna pass away and as quickly as he did... He was going somewhere in life, and its like he was robbed of that. Life isn't fair sometimes...

The funeral was packed, and a lot of cast member from Random Passage were there, and others I didn't recognise... He will be missed!

i watched Sugar a couple years ago then just rewatched it on demand. i had no idea he passed away.
